Re: Week 5 Polls - USA Today poll out

They are *barely* ahead so I suspect a sound whoopin of the voluntears will settle that. However, it's all moot as no way Va Tech goes undefeated anyways. Beamer Ball always fizzles out in the latter parts of the season.

It just bugs me because the media was hyping them as a "Next Years Team" in the Sugar Bowl. The prop teams this year are usc, texas, vt, and notre dame. If espn luvs ya, you still gotta win, but others have to do incredible things to get their due.

Don't they have a weaker schedule when it all boils down in the end?

Part of my outrage, I will admit, is I do not respect the thuggery of beamer ball.

They have a much weaker schedule. That fact alone should have kept you in front of vt. With the road in front of you they should have to wait to see if you stumble. When will the polls decide you have proven enough to move back up?

Playing ut with only one game under your belt when most have 3 or four games already puts you at a huge disadvantage. And to think, ut is the one whining about how unfair this game is. I think you will meet this challenge like you met the one at ASU.

The adversity that your team has faced this year is greater than any team on the vt schedule past or future. There is no acknowledgement of this fact by the voters. The talking heads will express their empathy for you and move on. Y'all have the chance to be one of the great sport stories of college football. I hope you make a statement Monday night.

I knew VA Tech would move ahead of us. Unless LSU just beats the HELL out of TENN we will not move ahead of them. I think it will be near impossible to leapfrog either VA Tech or Texas. Both teams play enough "name" teams that if they continue to win they will stay ahead.

They will still have to play an ACC Title Game. THis will most likely be against Florida State. The 'Noles aren't what they used to be, but their defense is nasty and maybe the QB (Weatherford or Xavier Lee) will figure things out by the end of the year. It won't be a cakewalk for them with games against Miami and FSU still to come. In fact, I will personally guarantee a VT loss.

Beamer runs a thug program and I have never really liked them, however, the boys in Blacksburg can play and I think they deserve their due respect until they lose. If I'm one of the people with a vote in the polls, I put VT ahead of us right now too. They are 4-0 and have man-handled everyone they've played. We haven't been given the chance to show what we can do yet.

That win over Arizona State is looking better and better each week. If we pull out wins against UT and UF we WILL jump everyone but Texas and USC. Till then there is no need to worry. If the Tigers take care of business on the field, the rest will take care of itself.:geauxtige :crystal:
