What are you expecting to see today, or wanting to see?

I'll be expecting see a few things today, most importantly a good scheme vs Cutler, DB's trying to disrupt the timing on quick passes, no confusion by the LB's and DB's, good pressure on the QB. I am really looking for Oliver to keep up waht he started last week and for us to get more pressure from the right side via Wroten, Pittman or a LB.

We played more press man last week, I now want to see us do that with maybe a cover 2 and get in the QB's face and force some errant throws. i want to see our cover corners stay with their man and make plays on the ball. Cutler will get some yards no doubt, I want to see us shut them down on third down like we have for the most part the last 2 seasons.

On offense I expect the Tigers to be much more diverse in that we should be able to run every play in the book, get balls to our playmakers downfield more and know expactly what we want to do with our 3 RB's. Vandy's DL is pretty quick and the kind that can tend to give the LSU oline fits over the past 3 seasons, so I want to see us running the ball straight at them more, not using pitches to try and run outside so much.

And one thing I have missed in 2004 and early this season is that Denver Bronco's type running play that we used so effectively with JV in 2003. Tirk and I were talking about this the other day. The RB takes the hand off and slants right a little but the line zone blocks and takes their man wherever he initally wants to go, giving the RB a cutback lane that is sealed off by the FB, know what play I am talking about? The Falcons run it now all the time and it is extremely effective. JV had many of his best runs on that play and takes his abilites into lay much more than having him try and burst through the line on. It is also usually effective vs a quick team as it uses their pursuit against them.

:thumb: Our schemes will be the main thing I pay attention to. Cutler will get some yards on the ground, but I hope we can minimize them & knock him up a little to make him hesitant about it. His throws are usually very well timed & to the most open WR, so he will really make us pay for blown coverages. Our corners will have to play very well.

I'm not sure we should expect diversity, unless we have to. I don't think Miles will run what works & continue to use it until they stop us. They might work on a few things just to get a feeling for how well they work in a game if we get ahead, but if we only maintain a small lead - I don't think we'll see much diversity. If we get behind, then we could see some creative playcalling. This is just my guess, as we really haven't seen enough of Miles to know his tendencies on this. I too expect a few strong straight ahead runs, because I think that would best exploit their Dline as they are smaller and faster than most.

    - First and foremost, a W!!

    - Defensive pressure on Cutler. Improved play by the secondary.

    - Jimbo, we have a TE. Throw him the damn ball.

    - Test the Vandy secondary with some deep throws.

    - Solid running game that will enable us to have a big margin in TOP and keep the defense off the field.

    - 60 minutes without Les having the "deer in the headlights" look.

    - Beaux waking up Saturday morning and finally realizing he's in the SEC.

    My thoughts exactly.

For some reason, Vandy plays us (as they do a lot of other teams in the SEC) fairly tough. Cutler is a good QB and he makes his WR's better than what they actually are. Our DB's can't blow coverages like they have been doing the last 3 games. We're not along enough into our season where they shouldn't be making those mistakes leading to "busted" coverages.

Over-all, I look for a "W" ultimately. Secondly, I look for improved play by our DB's and finally, I look for a game plan (offense and defense) that is well-played and well-executed.

Use the DE and LB to prevent quick slants and 3 step patterns, more safety on run support work on interior push by DL and blitz.

Flood more single zone with WR and TE, deep slants and single zoom on weakside. Keep back 7 from being involved in run support. Lot of Bowe to move the chains. 15-20 weakside counter rushes or screens. Have to become proficient in this. Can't always depend on being able to out physical other teams. You have to create space by scheme.

    I want to see:

    - dominance on the offensive and defensive lines
    - a balanced, ball-control offense
    - better fakes and deception by the quarterback (look off your receiver, JR!)
    - alternate all three running backs, keep them fresh
    - big returns by Skyler
    - fewer foolish penalties. A lot fewer.
    - no big plays allowed by the defense

    I want to see-

*passes thrown to skyler... a lot of passes thrown to skyler.
*throw a pass or two to xavier too
*agree with red, rotate the RB's
*set up the pass with the run...
    then
*LET ER RIP! thats what people want to see right?

*JR, if you don't see anything, either A. throw it away. B. RUN LIKE HELL

but im tired of watching him just give up and take the sack.

    GRRR
