I think he's playing better than last year. Big dude. Not too mobile, but can run and pick up 3-5 yards on occasion. I said in another thread, he has the best arm I've seen in Tigertown since Bert Jones in the early 70's. I'm sure JR can throw farther, but accuracy wise, on par with Bert. He can burn it in, and he also has touch, can throw short and long. He's making some ill-advised throws for ints., but not out of the norm for a soph. He made progress from last year, and I think he will get better each year. I think he still has quite a bit of upside to develop. I really like JR. He doesn't appear to get rattled by his mistakes, he goes out next time and keeps on playing. Really, does anyone remember a better arm at LSU?
Anyone that can throw it threw the field goal post on his knees from the fifty has an arm - Now if Miles lets JMAR show off that arm it will make me really happy.
JaMarcus "Jekyll and Hyde" Russell needs to be more consistent and more accurate. He looks like a superstar at times, then looks like a HS player at other times. I was thinking a potential heisman QB in the 1st quarter, then I was thinking Flynn in the 2nd half. :hihi:
I agree, he really has developed and is definitely playing better than last year. He made some great throws today and a few "Les" than desirable ones too. He improves every week. I also like the way he bounces back and keeps on playing after mistakes or 3 and outs. I do wish he would lose those "lead" feet sometimes. When he gets going he can move ok and at 6'5 240+ he should be able to take on anybody in the secondary.
In all honesty, he's still young; still raw. But he's making progress and I feel he will continue to improve. He's only a Sophomore guys....a Sophomore. He's not going to be David Greene as a soph.
I like JR. If he has time he is as dangerous as anybody in the country. However when things break down he makes me nervous as hell. But he really does not miss many throws.
