In search for more threads talking about football instead of RP, what do you think we see from Bama's defense? Do they attack our somewhat inconsistent OL with blitzes? Or do we not see much of it because of the scrambling ability of Flynn? We all know Saban loves to pressure the QB's with blitzes. I suspect Saban will try to jump some screens and this may lead to some deep balls for LSU. I would like to see the running game get going quick and often. I'm also curious to see if Pelini will put more pressure on Wilson as compared to the last 3 games where little pressure was applied to the QB's. Should be an interesting game. I sure wish we could dominate one of these tough SEC games. We've or at least I've had all I can take with these close games. I need a box of "Just for Men".
(Scary deja vu moment I was actually starting this same thread) Bama does not really blitz seeing how it does them no good. I would like to see our backs get locked on to linebackers. Theyre very slow east-west.
Interesting about the LB's. I haven't been able to watch them play much at all. I think I saw a portion of one game early on in the season.
I think you may see some blitzes early from Saban, if we establish the run and Flynn has some big scrambles then he should back off early. I think we may see some zone blitzes and we have to find the holes in the zone with the short pass. Then we he comes all out he won't leave Early alone, so Flynn has to find the tight end and Lafell, Byrd and Tolliver. I would also like to see some routes run by Hester out of the Backfield. We should see more of our scat backs because we are much faster than their linebackers coming out of the backfield. May not be 100% correct but I hope Saban blitzes and Crowton is on top of his game, because we have the speed to beat the blitz:tigereye:
I know that Nick's defense at LSU was designed to be decieving to a quarterback and was very effective at it. But his blitz packages were very complex and difficult to learn and left DB's in man coverage quite a lot. One wrong read and we got burned, like vs. Florida in 2003 and Iowa in the Peach Bowl. Nicks defenses were vulnerable to the running back slipping out late down the center for a wide-open pass. LSU hasn't done much downfield passing to running backs, but this might be the game to test him and see if he's fixed the problem. Are you listening, Gary?
We of all people should already know what to expect from Saban's defense -- and at best they are a "pretty decent" defense but most big name teams have had no problem scoring on them--except tenn but we all know tenn is extremely erratic in gameplay--so that game was just one of those freaks. To be honest im more worried bout bama's offense and our apparent decline in defensive play. Yes bamas O is also unreliable and erratic, esp behind John Parker but if they are on, we could be in another high scoring shootout as the visitor in a loud-ass stadium. It could be looking like Kentucky fellas.:helmet: :tigerhead :geauxtige :geaux: LSU!
I agree and think this thing could be high scoring and we will have little problem moving the ball on them. I think we run the ball pretty well unless they stack the line, if that's the case we throw well early and then run well later. I am more worried about our D. I think we the score could be 34-27 or 34-10. I think we win or lose based on OUR defense, not theirs. I DO THINK DOUCET HAS A MONSTER GAME...REMEMBER JOSH REED AT BAMA?
When I look at Bama's D I just don't see them stopping us especially running the ball. We have ran the ball on a whole lot better defenses than theirs. I really don't care who they got coaching on their sideline we will be the best team on the field and we'll play like it. Give Bame 2 or 3 more years then I will start worring about their D
I def agree with u here, they are gonna be a hell of alot of trouble down the road, but right now, if our D shows up and John Parker doesnt, we'll take home the W
