Not football but something that should be of great concern toa ll of us. I think I remember that an LSU student was killed on or near campus a few weeks ago. Tuesday night a freshman girl, 18, was shot in the head and killed near the Auburn campus. Also yesterday, the SGA President at North Carolina (a senior girl) was killed nad her body found near campus. This morning a boy shot and killed himself in a Mobile High School. Unbelievable stuff.
With LSU its not suprising... The Bottom to the north, Gardere to the south, and Valley Park to the east... LSU's campus is surrounded by ghettos... Lucky there isnt more crime there
BS. Old South Baton Rouge to the north of campus is the only ghetto adjoining LSU. There are upscale condo /apartment neighborhood south of campus, Gardere is miles away. On the east there are vast upscale neigborhoods adjoining LSU-- between LSU and Valley park--Lakeshore Drive, College town, University Hills, Southdowns, Zee Zee Heights, Hundred Oaks Park, etc.
I was waiting for someone who knew what they were talking about to chime in. so thanks. :thumb: I knew it wasn't all ghetto. I just didn't know the specific names of the places as you did.
what is truly "messed up" is this: www.yahoo.com whoopi talking about an Oscar, a diamond being found and rings around Saturn's moon are headline news, but none of this is.
Very sad to hear of so many young kids being killed in the prime of their life for no reason at all. Red, not to start an argument but LSU is not in a good place as far as surrounding communities are concerned. I drive through the area quite frequently and it has changed very significantly from the time I was at LSU and not for the better.
I think Gardere is 4.6 miles from LSU. I know it is very bad, I just stated that it does not "surround" LSU.
