I'm in the market for a .45 ACP semi automatic pistol.

    I have two 9mm Berettas.

One is a 92SB Compact. The other is a 8000F Cougar.

I want a .45 b/c they have excellent stopping power.

    I don't want a .40 S&W. I don't want a .357 sig. I also don't want a revolver.

Any way I would like to read some good forums if anyone knows of any.

Right now I'm leaning towards a Beretta PX4 Storm .45ACP or some type of 1911 model .45ACP.

    I don't like glocks. I don't want a plastic gun.

    thanks in advance

I have a few .45's, including a 1911, but my favorite by a mile is the H&K USP. You said you don't like plastic guns but I would suggest you find one at a gun range and take it for a whirl. You might not ever buy another handgun. The balance, lack of recoil, and speed back on target is unbeatable. Doesn't take an overly big person to shoot it either. The compact is phenomenal as well.

the HK USP compact .45 is a pistol that I was considering.

Is it double action only? I don't want a double action only pistol. I want a pistol with a hammer. Double action/single action will do.

This will probably tell you what you want to know. You can get several variants. But firing one will probably seal the deal for you.

I have a Colt Python I've had for years now. Dearly love this gun. Its shoots great and if I ever need it for self defense it'll get the job done!

But the glock is nice as well.

For the 1911, this is a great forum:
    http://forum.m1911.org/

For the best accuracy, ya gotta go with a single action 1911. You'll never get a target trigger pull on a double action or SA/DA action.

If you want ultimate reliability, there are many other options. H&K, Sig,

This is a good forum for Beretta:

Stupid me accidentally shot a hole through my wall last night with my 9mm. I've done some dumb things in my life, but that has to be the dumbest of all time.

I would say that the second dumbest thing that I've ever done was accidentally spraying myself directly in the eyes and face with MACE. That hurt like hell!
