Their fans just don't care about football the way other schools' do. They're too caught up in all the other intricacies (lol) that come with being an unfriendly Miami resident.

Miami is a terrible sports town. Dolphins never did sell out regular (even with Marino) Heat only sell out because of Shaq, Marlins have 2 world titles, but rarely ever sell out games. I thin I know why

Think about Miami. It's a city that people move to. Not a city where people are from.

Yeah... it's just that in general, the people who live there don't really identify themselves with the city and its sports teams as much as people from other cities do

Most folks don't realize that the University of Miami is a private school not a public school and is a relatively small school with just over 15K. From a guy I know who is a UM alum, most U alums don't stay in the state of Florida. He equated it to being almost Tulane-esque in the sense that you have a lot of East Coast liberals who go to school there and then leave. Like many liberal academias there is a disconnect between athletics and academics. It's as if there are two schools in one. The Canes also play in the Orange Bowl which is an off-campus stadium (campus is in Coral Gables) which isn't in very good shape. And there just isn't the fan base that exists with the fervor like there is at many other southern-based schools.
