Before every LSU football game: Friday put out the LSU flag Sat am ESPN gameday ( west coast so it is on early ) make any phone calls to friends ( I do not answer the phone while LSU is on) pour a Crown and ginger with a lime... in a LSU cup and get ready for the game. get into my zone....... everyone knows nothing is to interfere with the game.. LSU!
Oh, I gave my ritual for 'home games' but when I am at home, it is diff... I used to wake up at "58" after for the 1st title, but with 03, I got a new ritual... wake up at "58" after, and get out of bed at "03" after the following hour. I eat a shrimp po-boy from a local restaurant, and have a couple of coronas. But during commercials, I change the channel 15 times: and I make my 'pee-break' during the 2nd timeout of the 2nd quarter! And also something that we ALL do here, is we all hold up the 4s at the end of the 3rd quarter... I guess you can say we are wierd! lol
Depends on when and where FSU is playing. If it's a road game, I'll watch Gameday and whatever college games I want to see til LSU comes on. If FSU plays at home, I'll tailgate most of the day with Criminole fans until about 1/2 hr til the LSU game is on and then head home to watch the game.
We fly in from North LA....... And go straight to Mike Andersons to meet people. Then I hit 3 tailgates and go to the Tiger Den and watch other games for an hour. And drink and eat. Then I raise hell untill the game is over. Pondy
Re: We fly in from North LA....... when i'm at home, i usually listen to 98.1's coverage until kick-off, but when i'm at the game... well it's obvious...
Re: We fly in from North LA....... Wake up, after a shower, put on purple and gold, and head to the store. Pick up a bag of wings and peanut oil. Come home, turn on ESPN gameday on mute while listening to pregame coverage on the radio. Surf the internet for updated injury reports, weather, ect. Just watch football all day, until about 2 hours before kickoff, I put the first batch of wings on to fry. When they are done, put them on a plate with bleu cheese, and sit in front of the TV and don't move until after the game except for refills of food, drinks, and bathroom breaks.
Being a distant out-of-stater, my pregame ritual depends on whether or not the game is being televised and I can watch it from the house. If it is, I will cook some Cajun food, browse the Net to get caught up on what's going on, and a couple of hours before game time wear whatever LSU shirt I think is going to bring us luck and result in a victory. If it's an afternoon game on CBS the wife will go shopping as she knows that I'm "in-the-zone" and not to be disturbed. If it's an early evening game on ESPN she will visit friends and/or family. If it's a game not being televised by ESPN or CBS I'll call a sports bar about a mile from the house and see if they are carrying it. Most of the time they are. Chinese Bandit, I like your pregame ritual. I'm going to run it by the wife and see if she agrees
I get up for Gameday, waiting and waitng for them to talk about LSU's game, then being pissed because they didnt talk about it enough or the bobbed the nob of the other team... then i start watching games, while playing games on the xbox... when lsu time starts to come around, i put on my lsu gear, get the chips and salsa out, make the pitcher of margarita, and grab my football.. i then sit down for the game, requiring absolute silence so i can concentrate while flipping the football in my left hand with my right. I pee only during commercials. If the game is not goign the way i want it to be going, its because i cant concentrate enough, so i go to the tv in my bedroom. I then lay on teh bed and watch the game while tossing the football in the air above me and spinning it in my left hand with my right. After the game, i grab someone, anyone, and we go outside, no matter the time or lighting conditions, and throw the football, while in my mind i recall my glory days on the field (you can have glory days even if you dont make it to college!). I then go back inside and play ncaa football some more... oh yeah.. and if it isnt at the same time as the LSU game, then I go to a ULL game and yell at the opposing team...
