What would it take for you to bench Mauck?

I don't mean this but with so much damn talent on the bench, what would it take for you to be so fed up that you would want to bench Mauck and put in.....Russell, Flynn, Randall.

Mauck's going to have a great year, if he can stay healthy (knock on wood.) If the talk is true about his greatly-improved dropback passing, then I think he'll be a complete player.

I don't mind if he throws a couple of INTs...As long as he gets them out of his system against ULM after we're up 35-0 and he's about to sit out the 2nd half...

Before midseason it would have to be injury and even then I would have to give the first nod to Marcus Randall but let him know he is on a short leash. I don't doubt the ability of Russell or Flynn but a true freshman playing QB in the SEC is a lot to ask. If they were a RB or WR I wouldn't hesitate at those positions but QB is totally different.

Our best case this year is a healthy Mauck starts the whole season with one of the freshman getting some structured playing time as a backup. Randall should cross train as a slot back and be the #3 QB. If Randall is #2 then the chances of either freshman getting quality time is low. Randall is not the QB of the future.

The old Tommy Hodson/Micky Guidry scheduled playing time could be modified and work well for us.

2003 looks like a lot of fun.
