What I mean by this is....what do you want to happen that would make you think 2005 is a success.

Of course everybody wants to win the National Title again...but say we don't get there...would winning the West make you think 2005 was a success? Or the SEC?

Good poll...I'm curious to see how this turns out. Winning the SEC is a big deal and no small task, and with so much of the national championship determined by smoke and mirrors, I'll take a conference title!

All that really matters to me is Atlanta. Everything else is gravy.

    I said the SEC.

Usually I would say winning the West would make me happy but not this year. We have too much talent not to win it, imo.

I know a few of my friends have said National Title or bust for them, which I think is a bit ridiculous. Granted, they said 2005 would be a failure unless we win it...I think winning the SEC is enough to make me happy

I voted to win it all. It was my first instinct. sorry.

I think about it more now, and realize I would be completely happy with LSU winning a SEC title, and a years day game.

Anything else would be seen as failure to most other fans.

I said the NC based on talent and the supposed offensive mind from Les Miles. Also the whole did more with less thing.

However anything less than the SEC championship would be a let down this year. And for selfish reasons my work schedule would allow me to go to Atlanta and New Orleans.

I'd say the SEC title. Having the NC as a goal these days is too complicated and you don't know before the season what it takes to achieve that goal. With a conference title, it is clearly spelt out what you have to do to reach your goal... win more games than any team in your division and then beat the East representative in Atlanta. To win the NC you have to rely on how other teams perform and how sportswriters and coaches rate your performance, which is not very objective.

So, for me I'd say win in Atlanta. Whatever happens after that..... so be it.

To win the SEC is no small task no matter how much talent we have, and thats what I voted for. I do think this can be a special year, but every football season is special to me as long as the team compeats in each and every game. Wins and titles are awsome ( and very hard to come by ) so I'm
just happy with a team that takes the field and has the chance to beat anybody they play, all the other stuff is just gravy. :geauxtige

    I agree...

A win in Atlanta guarantees a BCS berth. That's about the limit of a team's ability to control their own destiny.

An SEC Championship and BCS berth are both within the control of any SEC team. Beyond that, you have to depend on the polls for the final outcome.

I said the SEC West because as long as we get the SECCG & put up a good game I'll be satisfied. However, I'd be greatly dissapointed with winning less than 9 games. We managed to win 9 games last year with a very young team & we return almost everyone with alot more experience this year - winning less games than last year would be a huge dissapointment to me. I expect LSU to win 11 games for a truley successful season.
