anyone know when the date for this is... think its before the Feb F-ball date. just wondering when we'll find out where D.J. Augustin will be playing. :lsup:
The early period signing dates for basketball span from November 9th to November 16th. So, we should know sometime around then. It's an interesting thing to me b/c DJ has decided to take an official visit to LSU this weekend (I hope he gets the red carpet treatment above and beyond the typical recruit--since he seems to be the ONLY bball recruit we're going after), but NOT at UTexas. Conventional wisdom would say that bodes well for us, I think, but I'm nervous. The Austin papers continue to have press about how much UT would love to land DJ, although very few quotes from him are appearing there. UT is lining up a pretty stout bball recruiting class with like 3 or 4 top 100s (and the #2 player in the country) already committed (as usual in Barnes' era), but DJ could be a very critical focal point on a LSU team (whereas at UT, he'd really be more of a background player I think), play with friends of his at LSU, which is also a young talented team with some good potential. Should be interesting! DJ we need you!!!
So, enough with the football recruiting, does anyone have any scoop on how DJ Augustin's trip went this weekend? He's a critical recruit to lock up for Brady, b/c we really need help at PG. I'm hoping it went well.... Any news would be great. As a practical matter, when a b-ball recruit comes in for an "official visit" on a football weekend. What does he do? Does he get the official whatever alongside other football recruits? I mean my assumption is that he went to the Auburn game, and I would think that that kind of atmosphere is the best recruiting tactic LSU can have. Although, it'd be interesting to hear what the basketball players get...
