1. Ok, I admit that I have never thought about it before last night. And I rarely watch anything other than Tiger games so I haven't ran across the 'strategy' of playing for OT.

What possibly could have been the strategy of playing for OT with more than 2 minutes on the clock? I understand the risk of a turnover but that would be a risk in OT as well. The defense was gassed and had not stopped UT in the second half so the thought of OT scared the s**t out of me. And the offense had barely moved the ball in the second half.

Russell has a strong arm, we were at home and we have speed at receiver. Why wouldn't we try to move down the field? Is there any logical reason? Maybe I am missing something very basic but I just don't see it.
  2. I think you answered your own question:

1.The defense was gassed and had not stopped UT in the second half
    2. The offense had barely moved the ball in the second half.
  3. Russel is pretty damn good at the 2 minute offense. I find it offensive they didn't try.
  4. I believe the fans at TS felt the same way. They were not happpy.

Neither was I. I knew if we went to OT that we would lose. The D was on the field the entire 2nd half. They coudln't stop Tenn. They were just out gas.

They should've tried to move the ball. They are going to play a prevent D so you will be able to move it. If Les is going to get mad at Jamarcus for the mess up at the end of the 2nd he needs admit his mess up at the end of the 4th.

It should've never gotten to OT though. I can't believe they let Tenn back in the game. Tenn deserved the win due to conservative coaching trying to play not to lose instead of playing to win.

I get scared everytime I see LSU grab a big lead in the 1st half because they always let the opponent back in the game. Even Saban allowed this too happen. You have to keep attacking and destroy them mentally, not give them hope. Look at USC, if they go up big on you they continue to attack. The play calling was too conservative on both sides of the ball.
  5. You DON'T play for OT when you know that you can't stop your opponent!!
  6. Miles played "not to lose" last night and it cost him the win.

The folks in Texas called this the Poke Choke from his days at OSU.
  7. Agreed. There was no reason to think that we could stop them. I just can't figure out what Miles was possibly thinking?
  8. Unfortunately, I don't think we was thinking at that point. :dis:
