I mean, nothing against Petrino or Les Miles or Terry Rogbeski but those are his huge names....people we would be surprised about?

I'm getting a sneaking feeling that these are all preliminary talks....obviously we want to interview Petrino and Miles and I think both would want the job. But for Card fans to be going nuts and saying that a contract was offered to Petrino just can't be right.

These are not huge names people. These are coaches that everyone on the planet should know would be interested.

I have to think Skip has about 3 or 4 more surprise coaches up his sleeves....HUGE coaches????? Like Shanahan, Del Rio or like CRAWFISH brought up.......Jimmy Johnson. Otherwise, these aren't HUGE names and nothing special. They may do a fine job but names like Petrino, Les Miles and the defensive coordinator for the Ravens aren't getting me jumping for jesus here.

    Where are the HUGE names?

My thoughts exactly, I am not opposed to Petrino, BUT can we see some other candidates please. I am sure Skip cannot say who, because that would go over like a Turd in a punch bowl.

BUT if there are some HUGE names, lets talk to them first. BUT for all we know Skip maybe doing just that and in respect to the coaches it has not been leaked. There is a chance Petrino listened and got busted.

    What a mess...

if Shanahan was not interested in going back to his beloved Florida two times now, what makes you think he has any interest in coaching LSU?

No way Johnson comes back to college coaching either...he is got his deal all sewn up at Fox.

Because there are no huge names. That is about as big as you can get at this time of year. Unless we pull Delrio from Jacksonville then Petrino and Miles or the only real canidates.

    Yeah

Obviously we'd want to interview guys like Petrino and Les Miles and maybe one will blow Skip away and be the obvious hire and be the next Vince Lombardi.

But if these are his huge names and people that we would be surprised by, it leaves me wondering. Is anyone surprised that Les Miles is interested? Petrino?........somebody else said Tedford. I agree, where is Tedford?

I still think we've got a shot at Del Rio and Shanahan....but when you talk to guys like that, it's best for no one to know until it's over.

    I hope

Miles and Petrino aren't the only real candidates. I mean, it's been two days. There has to be other interested parties here that we aren't hearing about.

Skip wouldn't have said we'd be surprised by who's interested if it was Petrino and Les Miles.

    Surprise me Skip..........

Also Petrino is a pretty big name, he has his team in the Top 10 and has the number 1 offense in the Nation. Miles not a big name, matter of fact no bigger then Iowa States coach.

Also keep in Mind some people at Auburn went after him, only to say no thanks.

Petrinos fine if he was best coach who was interested. But HUGE names and surprised by their interest does not mean Petrino IMO. Two years ago, no one had ever heard of the guy. To me, that isn't a HUGE name.

To me, I'd go get Jim Fassell before I'd get Miles. Petrino????? To me it's a toss-up. He's not nearly as qualified or a sure bet as Ferentz or Butch Davis in terms of winning.

It's early. I'll reserve my judgement until it's over.

Last time, we didn't hear much about Butch Davis until the end. They kept saying Glenn Mason and others then, BAM: Saban is the coach and Davis was almost the coach.

Miles no bigger than McCarney? Miles is probably as close to a top-tier coach without the name recognition because he is at Okie St and flies under the radar. He's defiinitely more proven than petrino at the very worst. This guy has drastically improved a sunken program and made them more than simply competitive.

Not to mention the talent he gets to go to Stillwater instead of Normanisn't shabby:

the woods brothers, rashaun (NFL), donovan and d'juan.

kevin williams and tatum bell in the nfl. thats just the last 2 years off the top of my head. I don't think Iowa State can say the same.

don't overlook miles because of unfamiliarity is my point. i think he carries some serious credibility.
