I realize this is a secondary concern. I'm just curious as to whether there has been any discussion of how long it will take to fix the Superdome and what the Saints will do in the meantime. Would moving games to the Independence Bowl stadium work?
I would think they could try to just play away games until the Dome is ready. But a problem creeps up in the first home game v. the Giants, since they share the Meadowlands with the Jets (who are playing Miami that weekend.) I don't know where they'll play. I don't know how long it would take to the get in the infrastructure in place at another major city (e.g. Los Angeles) and not sure about college fields.
It's a simple, innocent and openly acknoledged question of secondary concern. No need to get snotty. I'm just looking at the condition of the Superdome and things in general down there and the question came to mind.
I agree Titan. My dad and I brought it up in talking about the Superdome damage. I would think the game would be postponed until the damage was corrected but even then, it will be weeks before the city can get fans down there to watch a game ya know? You can't cancel games for weeks. Maybe Jackson....or play only on the road when you have a chance, unlike the Giants game. It's hard, but sometimes just let things slide........
I heard on an ESPN affiliate station this morning that Jackson, Baton Rouge, and San Antonio are being considered. Didn't hear S'Port but that would make sense.
I would think it would be tough to work out logistically with LSU...when each team gets to practice, wear and tear on the natural grass and so on. Shreveport's stadium holds 53,000 and Jackson's holds over 60,000. My bet is they go toward Jackson unless the capacity thing isn't as important as I'm thinking. I'm sure Birmingham would be glad to host them for a while and Legion Field holds over 78,000 but that's a little too far to go.
I just heard about 20 minutes ago that the dome should be ready for a game on the 18th of September. It may be a non event.
