looking confused, 3 INT's, could not get it going, were any of you hoping to see Randall come in for the 4th quarter?

I've always believed in letting a QB play through his problems, if he has shown himself to be solid in the past. Replacing a QB in a huge game like that could only be bad for the team, the fans, and for the backup QB. If he was throwing 3 INT every week I would definately replace him.

The play calling didn't help in defense of Matt.

We should've ran the play they got the td on

rb out of backfield in center of field, throw him the ball
and let him go one on one in secondary

this play always works when your struggling running the ball

Mauk's had 3, maybe 4, bad games in his career. He's lost 2 of them. I have confidence in him turning things around, like he's done after the other bad games.

Here's a novel thought. Ole Miss played a great defensive game.

But that would mean we wouldn't have anything to BITCH about?!?!?!?!?

No, no, no SabanFan...Mauck is done! Our season is done! Forget how our offense rebounded after Florida, we are officially done!

Sorry, I had to poke a little fun at the pessimists on this board...

I think that Matt Mauck wasn't given the slip screens as much as we had in the past few games, and we also didn't stretch the field as much, either...

There's also a rollout play that it's a small play action fake, then a half rollout, where Mauck stops, and throws to the wide side of the field to a streaking wideout....

The play is designed to suck up the safety for run support, leaving the DB behind the wideout and allow the Wideout to run under the ball using his body as a wall between the defender and the ball...

We had a BIG gainer against Georgia with it, and used it against each of our SEC opponents...

The small playaction is also designed to suck the defensive end towards the line and fool him long enough for Mauck to plant and step into the throw...

Ole Miss defended that play beautifully, as we tried to run it and got negative plays out of it on 2 occassions...

We still should have looked downfield more, and that's as much of a knock to Jimbo as it is to Mauck, though Mauck missed some wide open looks in the middle quarters...

I absolutely agree with Saban Fan. Also, the subpar offense performance shouldn't be blamed totally on Mauck. There were a lot of offense TEAM mental mistakes, dropped balls. I also wonder if the WR's had trouble with the turf as I saw a lot of slipping around. That might have also affected their timing of the runs.

I knew we were done for after we came out slow in the first half against AZ. Just don't have any offense. LOL
