Who do you guys think that this years sleeper team will be? Personally, I would have to say Arkansas will suprise some people. The have some talent but then again, they do have some big holes to fill. That sophmore running back that they have... I think his name is McFadden or something like that will carry the team to probably 7 or 8 wins this year. They could suprise some people so watch out... :geauxtige :911:
I tend to agree. Arkansas has some really good players and if they are coached up to their potential the team may turn more than a few heads this season. A lot depends on a lack of injuries not only from the starters but those who sub them. In D-1 football a team better have reserves who can be plugged in at any given time;it seems nowadays a star running back can blow out a knee just warming up. I personally would like to see this years Arkansas team open up a can of whoop-ass on USC when they play but of coarse lose to LSU the day after Thanksgiving.:thumb:
Don't know if you can call them a sleeper but I think Tenn. is going to suprise some people. I just don't see them being down two years in a row and say what you want about Phat Phil but the program is pretty damn solid. I'm less sold on UF than UT. Most of their tough games are at home so that helps......LSU is going to have their hands full. I would love to see Cal go in their and get theirs "heads" handed to them.....if that happens they may be 5-0 going into the Ga. game. LSU!
I agree as much as I hate to admit but Darth Visor has done a damn good job with the underdog of the East ( Vandys one decent year does not count)
Arkansas. That big running back may carry them far. Bama expects to be the West Division spoiler, but the Hawgs may challenge.
I don't have faith in Arkansas' new OC. Even if he turns out to be good, I highly doubt he can jump straight from a spread offense highschool coach to a more straight laced SEC coordinator... They do have talent, and for that reason I expect them to pull a suprise or 2 on some good teams, but overall I don't expect them to be a real good team. If South Carolina makes a bowl, I think it will be by the skin of their teeth. Ya'll have too much faith in the Ole' Ball Coach. Alabama will be better than people think, but I wouldn't call them a "sleeper" because I still don't expect them to win the West.
I do not expect the new OC in Fayetteville to change thier running game at all, that's Nutt's baby. So even if the passing offense doesn't click much better than before it will still be a very danegerous running game.
From the looks of their intersquad scrimmage game the OC isn't going FROM a spread to Nutt's style of offense but the other way around. If they run what I saw for a quarter in their intersquad scrimmage Arkansas is going to a more pass oriented offense. But I only saw a quarter of play so they might have been just experimenting with some things.
