Bama's rout of Florida has lost some of its sheen after last weekend, both because of LSU's win and Ole Miss near-win. I think Bama is gonna fall at least 2 times the rest of the way, so we as LSU fans might as well make the most of it by having those 2 times come against Tennessee this weekend and LSU next month. Should LSU find themselves in the thick of things from a BCS spot standpoint in 6 weeks or so, being able to say your only loss came in overtime to a 9-2 Tennessee team that, both then and now, is in the top 10-15 and has wins over Alabama (on the road) and Notre Dame (on the road) is pretty damn strong.
Part of me wants Alabama because i want them to be undefeated when we get to them. But that is if we continue to win all our SEC games. What is best for us as a team is for the criminals from Rocky to win.
I think Alabama, because of the intangibles in their favor. They are at home, and there is genuine venom about Tennessee from Alabama fans. It's going to be very hostile.
I can tell you. There is an attitude from this team when it comes to playing UT this weekend. You think fans are fired up? Yeah, they are... which will make BDS a hard place for UT to play Saturday. If you watched Leak...he simply couldn't audible most of the time because of the crowd involvement. If this game is close at halftime, Bama wins. UT has it's worst performance in the 3rd only scoring 17 points all year. Bama, on the other hand, has it's best performance in the third having outscored opponents 47-0. We didn't put any pressure on Spurlock and chose to sit back and let him beat us. He couldn't. While the center of our OL had some problems with their DL (ole miss has one of the most experienced DL's in the SEC and deepest) we haven't faced a unit like UT's yet. I'm not going to get into the specifics of the blocking scheme last Saturday, but it was not the scheme we used against UF or USC. I simply don't know...heart says Bama, gut says UT. Either way, it looks to be a 17-14 type score unless we are as consistant as we were against UF. Remember now, two years ago we go to 5OT's with UT and didn't have the depth nor talent we do now....first year coach. Last year we lose by 3 without our starting backfield, down to our 3rd string TE's....and that was in Knoxville. UT very seldom losses two SEC games in a row. However, this Bama team has something for them according to what I've been told by players. It's going to be a game.
I just got this feeling that Alabama will Roll in this game....... I think them boys want some pay-back and they have a pretty good team to do it with.
I'm pulling for 'Bama. I want as many SEC teams that LSU to play to be as highly ranked as possible at the end of the year. 'Bama won't fall far.
I think the Tide rolls. Then in NOvember when we're done with all our stupid plays we beat 'em then roll to the SEC West and then take the Dawgs for a BCS birth. :geauxtige :helmet: :tigerhead :bball: LSU!
we need UTHUG to win so we can beat bama later and jump the rankings. We need to beat bama anyway so they might as well be undefeated so that we get more out of it.
Pretty close poll thus far. Votes stand at 21-19 in favor of 'Bama. I'm not trying to take anything away from 'Bama--they're having a great season. But if not for the 5 turnovers vs Florida, we beat them just as bad, if not worse than what the 31-3 beating the Tide put on them. Tennessee is underachieving (yes, despite their win vs us). The Vols have lots of talent but haven't been able to put it all together--similar to us, except they're not turning the ball over as much as we are, and their not shooting themselves in the foot with penalties like we are. The Vols just aren't executing. With Prothro gone, and one of their other WR's banged up (vs Ole Miss--not sure if he's back to 100%), but 'Bama doesn't have a lot of depth at WR. They've got some good ones, but not enough past the 2 starters to keep Tennessee from stacking the line and shutting down Darby and the Tide running game. I think 'Bama's offense shows that they will really miss Prothro (they pretty much showed it last week vs Ole Miss and the Rebels are no where near as good as the Vols). IMO, if 'Bama is going to win this game, their defense is gonna have to carry them and Croyle can't have simply an "average" game. Tennessee wins it 24-16
