Yea we'll have the most fans but which team is considered "officially" to be the home team and how is it decided? If LSU had been the SEC Champ and had the auto bid I would guess it would be us but since we're both essentially at-large does it just go by rank?

If we are the home based on the higher ranking will the NCAA make LSU wear purple jerseys?

No, LSU's home jersey's are the classic white jerseys. Both teams will be wearing their home jerseys.

    LSU in white, home team
As the SEC representative, LSU will be the home team, but will wear its traditional white jerseys in the Sugar Bowl, sports information director Michael Bonnette said. Sugar Bowl spokesman Greg Blackwell said LSU will occupy the west (press box) sideline.
