Ok can someone tell me this, we have beaten all but Florida, and beaten Georgia ranked #5 twice, this should have doubled our points in theory but we are still getting no respect, I went to Foxsports.com this morning and they are predicting Oklahoma 20--LSU 10. What is going on??? I think the the BCS is the BSS(Bull **** Series) we should have gone to #1. Yet all the announcers were and are not talking like we can win this game. I hope U.S.C. looses their ass and we send Oklahoma home SOONER.
I am pretty positive making it to the NC is a statement. I think people are still getting used to us. I mean, we came off of a cotton bowl blowout to Texas...the next year we are in the NC game...And I am sure a lot of those guys just think OU is the better team. We will show them though.....But I think we are finally getting respect...I mean, I wouldn't call being predicted to lose to a bad ass oklahoma team in the NC not getting respect... Not getting respect was getting picked to lose the Georgia game...
Also, its not like they said "OU wins by 3 touchdowns" like Mark May said about us playing USC a few weeks ago. Now THAT is disrespect...
Respect is earned not given OU has history and current success and USC has tradition and recent success. We had a disapointing season last year ending with a blow-out loss to TX. Beating GA a second time got us #2 in the polls. Most writers will not move a team down if they win so it is not reasonable to expect that we would jump USC. It is a shame that we dont get to prove we are better on the field. If we win, we EARN respect.
I would imagine that any other bowl we play in, we would have been favored and people would have talked about LSU dominating...We are playing a consistent powerhouse who has won the NC before...I knew we wouldn't be picked for to win this one by many...
Yeah but you know, its the idea of the situation, we are a dominating team, well all games except for 3 Geaorgia the first time, Ole Miss, and Florida, we worked our way up int what alot of people call the toughest conference of them all. We beat Georgia without hesitation for the SEC Championship and yet all we hear about is USC and OU, we get very little mention.
I like the fact that they pick OU over us. The talking heads have been picking the other teams over us all year(UGA-twice, Ole Miss, Ark-cause we were 'overlooking them'....blah, blah...) and look what has happened.....we beat them all and continue to roll to the MNC. I hope they keep picking against the Tigers and the Tigers continue to prove them wrong!!
That's because there's a controversy between those two schools over who our Sugar Bowl opponent should be. Very, very few are now disputing the fact that WE belong there, that's why you're not hearing anything about us. I think that little can of whoop-ass we opened on an outstanding Dawg team the other night changed a lot of minds in our favor.
For the record, Oklahoma lost to Ole Miss in the Independence Bowl the year before they won their championship.
LOL...there are people here in Houston calling into local sports shows complaining about us (remember, there are a ton of LSU fans here) complaining. I have to admit, they have a point when they say, "For God's sake, YOU'RE IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Shut up!" Honestly, it's no longer lack of respect as much as our own ideal fantasy of how this should have happened being shattered by OU's upset last weekend. WE wanted that whole "David v. Goliath" thing going, undisputed title on the line and all that...and now we're faced with having to share what we will earn next month. It's not disrespect, it's a national title with an asterick if Michigan loses.
