why are we not in the top ten or five for that matter?
is it because we are so loaded that kids think they can play earlier
at other schools or are we slacking in recruiting?

We are #11 in one ranking and #5 in another. LSU is recruiting very well, obviously, despite a down year in Louisiana talent. How in the world can you be upset about it?

We are not slacking in recruiting. We have a great class. I think a better question is why can USC have 8 fewer recruits then we have but be ranked ahead of us on Rivals? It continue to amazes me the talent USC can cherry pick, be ranked as the pre-season #1 most years and still only have one Crystal Ball. That should remind you that recruitment rankings are just POLLS! It's what a coaching staff does with its recruits that win Championships.

I suppose one could look at it as though 1 NC is underachieving and some Trojan fans do for sure. OTOH, we did make the NC game 2 times after 2003 and missed the NC game the last 2 years by one loss each year, to ucla and then stanford. Not to mention that USC is the first team to have 6 consecutive seasons with at least 11 wins and we have 6 straight Pac10 Championships albeit a few are shared. Very few teams go wire to wire as the #1. There's a reason why lots of teams don't WANT to be the preseason #1 team.

I'm not ready to throw the towel in just yet. :)

I did not mean to take a jab at you guys. I was just making the case that just about anyone can win the NC. Just because you recruit the best talent every year does not guarantee anything. We thought our season was done after the Arkansas game until Rich Rodriguez handed it back to us. There are so many games that hinged on us making it in. There is so much luck that comes into play each year.

It was a down year in Louisiana for recruits and despite that Miles and co puled in a really really good class. I wouldn't be concerned that it's not ranked top 5 by most guru's it's a good haul and should be better next year.

USC is a very very talented team and is always in the hunt so don't take it as a knock on USC but the PAC10 championship is pretty meaningless when you only have one legitimate team. Pete definitely knows how to recruit.

    Jacob Hester was a 2-star.

Someone was gonna say it, figured it may as well be me.

    You just....never.....know.
