Take heart. Baton Rouge and South Louisiana have the biggest cockroaches in the nation. Some of them are so big they register with the DOTD and have license plates attached to their butts. "FREAKING NOTRE DAME" hardly ever gets any good sized cockroaches outside their entomology department's special orders.

What does that have to do with "recruiting success." Only slightly less than the so called "expert rankings."

One year back in the late 80's or very early 90's we had "far and away the best recruiting class in the nation." Four years later we were something like 3-8.

I would say our recruiting for 2004-07 was pretty damn good. I make that judgment based on looking at our trophy case.

As to comparing our recruiting to Alabama's: Quick, make a choice, national championship or 6-6 with an Independence Bowl bid and a No. 1 recruiting rank? If Bama does not make every SEC title game and win two national titles in the next three years with "all that talent" they will still be behind us on the decade.

What's the 2004-07 recruiting rankings of Kansas (12-1), Missouri (12-2), and West Virginia (12-2)? Or South Florida? or Hawai'i? or BYU?

I'd bet Cincy (10-3) and Az St (10-3) didn't come close to touching the hem of Florida's garment (9-4) over that span.

Final Note: LSU has wrapped up and signed one RB not mentioned in the reports who is, without a doubt, one of the best who will play college ball within the last 20 years. It's a secret that has not been released if I can only get his name right, it's, um, um . . . um . . . . C-. . . . C-. . . . Cecil Collins. Yeah, that's it.

I think that as long as a team finishes consistently in the top 10 and in the top 3 every 4 years or so, that team will have a great shot at winning the title. Finishing #1 or #2 one year and then being average the other years in itself will not guarantee a succesful run at a championship.

I think Dan's on to something, here. We've peaked. Miles won't last to see this class' junior year. We need Saban back, cause he obviously knows how to drag in 0.14 more stars (on average) than Miles and THAT is what we need.

Grasp paper bag firmly. Hold over mouth. Breathe slowly. Fill....and fall. Fill....and fall.

You're right. We're headed for the dark days of LSU football again. Without Saban we are dooomed!
Even if we win another NC, it will be because the influence of Saban is so strong, that it compels our team to win. Do you think it was a coincidence we won it all in his first year back in the SEC??? HMM??

Has anyone figured out that if Saban could had added 60 players to his team and gotten rid of any existing players he would have probably cut 35 in addition to the seniors leaving. He threw the team under the bus at seasons end. It has to be his way in every detail throughout the entire program. No surprise with his recruiting class. Now he and his staff has to coach them up. He also tells every recruit they can play next year because of how bad they are. All freshman want to play their first year. Slick Nick knows how to play the game.

Elaborate? Examples? Links? I'm no Sabanite, but that seems a bit rantish and lacking substance to me...Educate me, Tex.
