No one has the inside scoop on this. Both Saban and Miles supposedly not impressed with Harris whatsoever. We shall never know the reason behind such an analysis I suppose.
The whole Harris thing was a bit baffling. Coming out of the Summer camps everyone was saying that Saban loved this kid and that he was a shoe-in to be a Tiger. Then as the year progressed he seemed to fall off the radar and then after the coaching change he wasn't even mentioned as being a Tiger. Wonder what transpired in that short period of time that he fell out of favor with Saban then Miles? It's kind of like Rufus Alexander starting at LB for the Sooners being from Baton Rouge. Now, admittedly I don't remember what the circumstances where surrounding Alexander, but I don't recall it being a Major Applewhite situation. I just hate seeing players from BR starting at other major programs because it makes me wonder how a player from BR who's good enough to start at OU is not at LSU. Then again, no use crying over spilled milk.
There is no denying the fact that Stoops knows talent and Harris ended up at OU. So there will be no explaining this away.
This one is strange. I thought that after Keys decommited than there would definitely be an offer on the table for Harris, but apparently that was way off base.
There has to be something we don't know here. Miles just doesn't not go after a good recruit without a good reason.
Why LSU didn't offer Nic Harris. This guys is rated pretty high, has a 3.5 GPA and a 19 on his ACT. What am I missing? There is something about this guy that LSU didn't like. I think he would have been a Tiger if we'd shown him any interest. Saban didn't offer him, neither did Miles. This kid had LSU in top 3-5 of his highest interest schools, and LSU was only one that didn't offer him. Someone let me know what I missed on this kid. Is there a skeleton in the closet somewhere?
Re: Why LSU didn't offer Nic Harris. I heard that he was sort of soft and that he shyed away from contact, but don't know if that is true. But there had to be something else that turned off both Saban and Miles.
Re: Why LSU didn't offer Nic Harris. From what I understand, Saban (and then Miles after him) felt like the kid gave up too many big plays, and wasn't overly impressed w/ the kid's hustle. They felt like he dogged it sometimes on the field.
