evidently, the guy cant coach D a lick and his current DC might as well be stevie wonder. he appears to have the opportunity to inheret one of the best DC's in the country w/ mushchamp. so can anyone think of any logical reason that he might bring the current chump w/ him?

HC usually bring in their own staff... I think Miles will bring Clay (current DC from OSU) or Karl Dunbar DLine coach at Chicago Bears... played at LSU 84-86, was looked over by Saban so he went to OSU under Miles.

true...but im sure its almost just as rare that HC's are inhereting one of the most dominant defenses in nation. if he's O-minded, why wouldnt he stick w/ what is successful. if it's so obvious that D is his biggest weakness, isn't it his safest bet to keep WM?

as linebacker coach only, If we could keep Muschamp we would be stupid not to because he has learned things from NS.

I think its quite alarming that they have been calling for his head the last 2 years, his defense sounds alot like Lou Tepper's 3-4.
So hopefully we will have a different DC besides does anyone remember how
hard it was for the players when they had to learn a new defensive scheme
    under NS?
We will have some big plays given up on Defense next year, busted coverages, we thought it was bad this year.
I'm not in a panic here but next year could be a tough year?

They are saying that Clay is not going to come to LSU which is very good news.

I'm ok with the TE coach, WR coach, and RB coach - OSU has excelled in those areas and should improve our play at those positions. But DAMN!!! Bill Clay?? Only reason he left was because he was about to get run out of town :(

I have been all on the Les Miles bandwagon, but Bill Clay definitely has me concerned.

As you all know, we are not a fan of our DC's scheme, the 4-2-5. It just doesn't lend itself to enought quarterback pressure, and if a running play gets throught the line, there are only 2 LB's back there to tackle, which by the way are usually tied up in a block by a tight end/receiver. Therefore your DB's have to make the tackle.

All that said, we have tiny, (average 5-9 180lb DB's), very fast, most run in the 4.3 range, but they get blown up by most RB's.

What kind of DB's and LB's do you have? We do not have the personnel for a 4-2-5, yet Coach Miles let old man Clay stubbornly stick with it for 4 years here.
