Think about it, we all know last year the AP gave USC a prize because they wanted to create news. Any "journalist" who did ANY research would realize that LSU and OU had a clearly better season with SOS etc etc. So this year you have the AP already starting to move AU up the polls (And this time I agree with it) Could it happen that if 3 teams are undefeated, that the AP gives another team a prize and we have another split. How will USC react if that happens to them they win the BCS and Auburn wins the AP. I think it will be poetic justice. Its a long shot but it would be funny....
The media is firmly behind USC and that won't change. The more likely scenario is OU beating USC in the Orange, then the AP naming Auburn its champion.
This is true. WOnt be as humorous but if AU is left out of the game and OU wins that is exactly what will probably happen to give them more material to write.
The more I think about it, the more I want another split championship. The media blamed the computer polls last year, so the BCS was changed to give more weight to the human polls. Should my scenario come true, they won't have anyone to blame but themselves.
Honestly, I think there's a chance. If they go to the Sugar Bowl, AU would have to really lay the hammer to whomever they play (personally, given the Sugar Bowl's long-standing relationship with the SEC, the Sugar will try to give AU as high a quality opponent as possible in addition to selecting one that'll bring the most fans) and hope the USC-OU Orange Bowl is less than inspiring. If AU beats, in consecutive games, Georgia, Alabama, Tenn and Miami and beats Miami by, like, four touchdowns, they have to get a share of the title. They just have to, period.
It would be poetic justice. I could be wrong, but didn't AU vote for SC (over us) in the coaches poll last year? Or maybe the AU fans/etc were saying SC was the better team or something like that. If so, then hearing Tubby complain about poll voters is perfect.
No Tubbs was on LSU's side last year if I remember correctly, several Auburn fans were not but I think that was more jealousy then anything last year. But if I remember correctly Tubbs was one of the few that was voting LSU #1 in the coaches poll. It was Holtz who was the moron.
Thanks, I wasn't sure what it was. Still, after the SC/AU love fest last season it's nice to see them complaining about each other.
Auburn would have to be ranked #1 in the AP poll BEFORE the bowl game. That's the whole idea is that the AP said USC was #1, and the BCS said they were #3. So the AP said screw you, we're keeping them #1 if they win the Rose Bowl. Not at all the same set of circumstances this year. If Auburn gets to #1 in the AP, then they would be #2 in the BCS over OU for sure. So there would be no gripe for the AP this year, as Auburn would be playing USC.
