I was seeing the stadium progress and i know they expect to be enough done to have people in the stands but i wonder how safe it will be. The decision to use the west upper will have to be made by people that know safety. Not just worried about the revenue of the seats. Hope the university err's on side of not exposing people to unsafe conditions. They could possibly move to Super Dome if they have to. I am afraid this hurricane season is going to make it hard to finish in time. Hope i am wrong, Geaux Tigers
I guarantee that safety is very important to revenue & is being taken into consideration. As has been said before, moving to the superdome would decrease the amount of seats even if none of the upper deck is available for use. We all hope it gets finished in time, but I don't think we have to worry about them letting people sit there if it's not safe.
they will make sure its safe. It has to pas inspection before people can sit there. Why would they move to the superdome? that would be dumb considering TS holds more then the Dome even without the West upper.
zero possibility of games being moved to the superdome. and revenue is the biggest factor and they don't want lawsuits so it will be safety first.
If it's not safe they wouldn't be able to get a Certificate of Occupancy, so it woudn't even be in LSU's hands. And as tiger777 said, Tiger Stadium holds more fans w/o the west upper than the dome holds. There just won't be too many visiting fans at those games, like none.
The bigger issue is will it be ready . . . . with 52 days left, the latest pictures at LSUSPORTS.net make we wonder. There is a whole lot of work left to be done. I would be inclined to walk up the ramp for the 1st game and let others test out the escalator or elevators. . . . . :lsup:
There has been a noticable slowdown in the progress of putting up the upper deck panels, but much work is going on inside the superstructure. I believe they are concentrating on getting the club levels fitted out right now. Once they put up the upper deck panels, they can no longer use the cranes for the interior construction going on. It appears they are concentrating on getting the elevators, press box, and club levels working first. The prefabricated upper deck panels will go up fairly quickly when they are done with the heavy lifting underneath. I suspect that the ramps, elevators, club levels, pressbox, plumbing, and power will be ready for the season. The upper deck panels will be up so the whole structure can pass inspection. Air conditioning and carpeting may not be installed. Concessions may not be ready. But the upper deck seats themselves may have to wait on finishing out the lower levels for games one and two. They must be ready for Tennessee. It will likely be late season before all of the paint and signage go up.
