Did anyone ever wonder why it seems that LSU is the ONLY University that doesn't sell its authentic jerseys to the public? Many schools sell these jerseys for upwards of $150. And, I'm sure that MANY at LSU would pay through the nose for an official jersey. Yet, for some reason that still isn't clear to me, the LSU Athletic Department refuses to sell these items. I spoke with the woman who owns Tyger Gifts and asked her about this. She said she would LOVE to sell those jerseys but the A.D. hasn't allowed them to be sold. And, it seems LSU is the ONLY school that does this. WHY?
No doubt, LSU fans probably buy more crap with LSU then any other program in the nation. Hell I have an LSU toilet paper roll holder in one of my bathrooms. My wife ask's me what I want for christmas each year. I say I dont care just make sure it has the letters LSU on it. If they sell it, we shall buy... I have those cheap knock off ones but I hate those things... I have a great LSU hockey jersey with Geaulie on the back...
My girlfriend has purple LSU thong panties that she wears on game days. Got it at the Gift Center where there is plenty of schlock memorabilia. But they don't have authentic jerseys. They used to have authentic baseball caps. You know, the fitted wool caps that the team wears. Not this year. Just a bunch of cheap strap-back caps for 20 bucks.
I think what would be awesome is like what you can do with NFL jerseys, customize your number and name. I could see plenty of people with #20 Cannon. If I got one I probably would put my own last name on there and my old high school number.
Mabey we should all send Skip an email on the issue. If enough peopel email him wanting the athletic department to sell the jerseys from that season to the public then he might listen. I mean they already sell the game used helmets in the Gift Center. Why not the jerseys too. I know they have sold the football pants because I bought a pair of get this, the white pants from 97 last spring some time. Guess they wanted to get rid of all things related to the last head coach.
