1. Saban has told Bertman he may need until Friday to decide.

  2. Call me crazy, but IMO, the longer Saban takes, the better our chances are. Means that he REALLY is having a difficult time deciding (for whatever reason--be it family that doesn't want to move, or him knowing how good he currently has it).

They already offered him the job, and if he REALLY wanted it, like so many Dolphin fans and Miami media has stated, then he would have jumped on it without hesitation. But since he's asking for another day, moving his "D-Day" to Friday, I feel a little better.

Not saying that he won't end up taking the Miami position in the end, but it looks better for us.
  3. I agree. I'm hoping he's just painted himself in a corner and trying to figure out the best way to get out of it. Say you really love your job, everything is great, but other companies keep bugging you about jumping ship. To get them off your back, you lay out a list of pretty unreasonable demands, because you know they won't be met and you can always lower them when you feel it's time to move on. But then, out of the blue, somebody comes along and matches them. Then what? You really don't want to go right now, but they've given you everything they asked for. If you say no, you might screw yourself in the future, but you really don't want to go, so how do you break the news? Hey, I know it's a longshot, but it's almost Christmas Eve, a boy can dream. I'm beginning to flip-flop and think he just might be staying. :thumb:
  4. I am not sure that it helps either way. I didn't expect this decision to be easy for him so if it takes till Friday....it doesn't make me feel better. I think this job may be the one that he wants with so much damn power given to him.
  5. Very nice timing, also, if the story about TAF and the school offering Nick that huge-ass annuity (which, when paid, would make his average pay over the remaining 6 yrs of his current deal $4 mil or so) is true.

Consider it LSU's "smart bomb", unleashed once Miami had played its hand and done for maximum effect.

Nick could complete his current deal, absolutely be set (him and his family) for life...and STILL take an NFL gig before he hits 60.

Again, if true, it's great timing. Got It?

(PS-Nick has to stay, else the new "Got It" smiley gets stale real quick. So, Nick, stay at LSU. Got It? )
  6. Agree with much said here.

Marcmc99 - I concur with your above analysis of "Painted in Corner" and many of your other posts/remarks!

I was especially impressed with TEJAS TIGER'S observations. Very "smart" Tejas..... to decipher the contract counter "Smart Bomb" our LSU Execs craftily timed, hurled & depolyed on Huizgo after showing his hand!!

Instead of doing the "unthinkable" and breaking the sad news on.........
....."CHRISTMAS EVE"............ to his neihbors/friends in Baton Rouge
and the millions of Loyal Tiger Fans everywhere.............

"Saint Nick" is waiting FOR CHRISTMAS EVE, to celebrate the good news!!

Get ready to launch your Fireworks, light the Bon Fires and enjoy a nice hot Bowl of Gumbo as we celebrate and prepare for an Ass Whooping in Orlando, Florida. Lets try to not be too cantakerous in Florida while flaunting "our" Coach!
  7. If he is going to go, he has to go now. He is only getting older and the average age of coaches in the NFL today are already around his age, if not younger.
  8. Smart Bomb! I like that!

I gotta give you props for that.
