Abita Andy Gator is supposed to be fairly strong. I don't know what the alcohol content is though.

Did the Abita Brewery get damaged in the storm?

Abita Amber, Turbodog and Purple Haze were once staples in my house.

Sam Adams has a 48-proof beer. But it costs 100 dollars a bottle!

No, in fact they're making a special beer in celebration of their good fortune and to help rebuild. Restoration Ale. Check it out: http://www.abita.com

Sam Adams Triple Bock, coming in at a hefty 17.50% ABV, is almost undrinkable.

Like the beer you are referencing, it is also a barleywine style ale that is mentioned further down in the article.

A friend had several bottles of the 1995 vintage when I was in BR for the holidays.

We tried to drink one, and he "gifted" me with the other one.

It is reminiscent of bad motor oil.

I don't believe that the 24% would be that much better...

    ...ESPECIALLY at THAT price!!!!!!!!!!!! :dis:
