What you say if the football team starts out 4-2 and finishes winning 4 of the last 5, ties for West title, but loses the tie-breaker, and makes the post season? Should Miles be given a raise? A contract extention? Would it be great season, one that has you pumped up looking forward to next season?

Not with the talent Miles has to play with. Considering some of the teams on the slate, it's possible, but all of LSU's toughest games are at home, so the schedule sets up nicely for him.

Heck, 9-2 would be something of a disappointment. My prediction is 10-1 going into the SEC title game for a rematch with Tennessee in the Georgia Dome and a replay of Phat Phil's worst nightmare from 2001.

The winner of that game will go to the BCS and maybe have a national title shot, although Appalachian State may end up biting LSU on the a$$ regarding schedule strength.

First off let me say I don't agree what so ever with your analogy. There are very few schools in the nation that have success in both basketball in football. Do you see top notch basketball programs like Duke, UCONN, North Carolina, and Kentucky. Going to decent bowl games in football much less the BCS. Its damn near impossible to be in the top 10 in both football and basketball. LSU is only a basketball school when footbal is down. Other than in the 80's when LSU was strong in both. But I mean the teams that made the final four in basketball were darkhorses. Ya LSU was big when we had Shaq, CJ, and Stanley. But across the street that team playing in tiger stadium was playing in front of 60,000 people very similar to the way the basketball attendance is now. This LSU basketball program is on the rise. We have signed 3 straight McDonalds AA's. Were keeping the studs in state unlike in the past. They have been to 4 straight postseason tournaments. However I don't think Brady should be given a raise or an extension. He should have to show that he can sustain this success next year. Then getting an extension and all that should be worked out. Regardless if Bass comesback or not next year. I belive fans should be happy and excited about his season and have that same feeling for next season.

WHY NOT AT LSU? ISN'T LSU CAPABLE?

The 2005-2006 academic year should find LSU FINISHING in the Top 5 in football and hoops. This SHOULD become an annual event. Maybe the Brown Suit is the one to do it, but sure has taken way too long for this turn around.

Actually, there was a brief run during Uncle Bill's turn when LSU was a force in both sports. The 1986 UK football game Lexington featured a great LSU moment, the cheerleaders lead the football team out with a banner "Hey Cats! How WAS Dallas?" and "Well, the always footb... sorry, it's UK".

Yes I do think LSU is capable what I'm saying is you have to start somewhere. Which this basketball program is doing right now. You just don't go from nowhere to the top 5. You have to build up to it.

Would I give him a raise? no
A contract extention? if it is about to expire, yes
Would it be a great season? No, but LSU has only had 6 or 7 GREAT season in over 100 years of football.

Seemed like 2000 was a pretty good starting point...

(And for everyone else, this really isn't about football. I believe Les Miles is going to rule the SEC for many, many years)

we were so dominant in hoops yet we've got one SEC tournament championship crown in our history and that was 1980.

kentucky has dominated sec hoops, winning/sharing the sec regular season championship 43 times and winning the sec post-season tournament 11 of the last 14 seasons.

so it helps to have a little perspective when you're trying to compare apples and oranges.

this is just another in a long line of ridiculous comparisons a handful of you haters try to make.

get over yourself and enjoy what is currently LSU basketball. I guess i shoulda just ignored it like all the rest since it only encourages ignorant behavior.

Maybe the SEC tournament has run its course. It really has become Kentucky's bowl game.

Should Stan Heath of Arkansas be making more money than John Brady? Brady won 13 SEC games this season. Heath won 14 SEC games & lost 36 in 3 seasons with a lot of highly ranked talent. IMO, Brady should be making more than the cowardly Heath. Also Arky should not be allowed to share ANY SEC winnings.
