....That was a great game to watch (Northwestern vs Iowa). I really thought Iowa had it wrapped up early on (I've found myself cheering for Iowa more now than what I ever have in the past--primarily due to their first-class fans like Hawker45, etc.--plus, I don't want to see the NCAA lose another really good coach to the NFL just yet). But, MAN! Is the Big Ten a mess or what this year?!?!? I'm having a hard time figuring out if they're all mediocre, or if that conference is the most competitive and have more "good" teams than other conferences but just no "great teams"???
I like Iowa, I have for a couple of years. I thought it was really cool that we were matched up, that last play sucked though.
What a sad couple of weeks... we had our chances at home against Michigan at the end of regulation, then again in overtime... couldn't get it done... Then up 27-14 to NW late... unbelieveable. We could just as easily be 7-2 as 5-4. I saw some of our players celebrating on the sidelines with about four minutes left... that is not IOWA. For whatever reason, we are not the "bullies of the Big Ten", as some have called us of late. We lack that killer instinct on defense and Tate, quite frankly, has not been as consistent has we had hoped... very disappointing. We're not playing bad, we're just not playing smash-mouth. We better get our ducks in a row for Wisconsin, then Minnesota... or we'll be sitting at home this bowl season. I think the Big Ten is very talented this year (and I don't always say that)... but we knew coming into the season that just about everybody had a good returning QB and the defensive talent in the league, particularly at linebacker, was as good as any in the country. For Iowa, we have to take out Wisconsin while you guys handle Bama. I will be VERY surprised if you struggle AT ALL in your game. My guess is Bama will have to punt about six times and you will get great field position out of four of them... and that should be all she wrote. "Bama, you can't handle the truth."
