hey who do ya'll feel is going to be quaterback next year? i hope we don't have a contaversy next year? mauck looked ok in the florida game. he made a couple bad decsions but other then that he looked ok. i know one thing for sure he sure as hell can run the ball. i know clausen iis supposed to be really good but he wil be a redshirt freshman next year. still very young. i don't know much about marcuss randall except that he had a great spring. i think he is prolly the frontrunner. just wanted to know ya'lls opinions.

I'm sure it will be Mauck. However we might have a contreversey in 2 or 3 years when incoming QB phenom Skylar Green comes into his own.

Mauck and Randall will battle it out for the staring QB job next year. At times, Randall has been ahead of Mauck, and at times the opposite. The thing is, no matter which one it is, LSU will have another running threat back there. Both guys have excellent running ability. Randall probably has the stronger arm, although it is close. But Mauck is more mature and can put some touch on the ball. I don't know if it will be a controversey, but it will be a battle. And yes, there is a difference.

Skyler Green will not be a QB. He is to small. He will either be a running back or a receiver.

I agree it will be a battle, but I think Mauck has the edge, metally more mature and maybe a little better grasp on the game. Not to mention, although I think Saban would deny it, Mauck is his guy. He wanted him at Michigan State, and when he got here he went after Mauck again. Subconsciously Saban might already have a favorite.

I was impressed with Mauck at the Florida game. The kid came in off the bench took his first snaps in almost two years, and was able to move the ball. Yeah, a couple of bad decisions, but hey he didn't think he was going to do anything that night except drink some gatorade and chat with the other non-starters.

    Good points!!!
I agree with everything you said except the fact that Saban went after Mauck again. Actually Matt told us (the media) that he contacted Saban to see if he would still be interested in giving him a shot.

They did remain in contact with each other (somewhat) during Matts baseball career. Saban even took his kids to one of Matts Ball games.

If that is true then it just kinda reinforces in my mind Saban sees something in this kid, and he probably has a subtle edge in the battle next year. Saban I am sure didn't go see any of Randall's games. If they stayed in touch then they probably have some sort of raport, which is essential between a QB and Coach. This is why I think Mauck will be the man for the tigers in 2002.

Keep in mind my opinion and gut feelings + $1.00 will get you 20 minutes of long distance!! :D:D
