was Jan. 1, 1965 and Jan. 1, 1966. LSU played Syracuse in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1965, winning 13-10. The next New Years Day, LSU beat #2 Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl, 14-7. Interesting that the next time we play two straight New Years Day bowls, we again win the Sugar against a team from the north with orange and blue colors, then play in the Cotton (this is only our 4th Cotton Bowl -- we're 2-0-1). Will history repeat itself?
