Yes, it is the NIT, but a run at #66 is on the line. What an exciting ending for a gritty Vandy squad.

They were down by 6 points or so late in the game and that gaurd (I forget his name despite the fact that he scored 30+) started lighting it up from behind the 3 point line. Vandy takes a one point lead with under 45 seconds to play. Wichita State misses a wide open layup and fouls on the break with 7 seconds to play.

The Vandy kid hits both freethrows to extend to a 3 point lead. 7 seconds remain and WS has no timeouts. Vandy calls a TO. Then the dilemma is dicussed - do you foul? Every coach has their take on the situation. Anyway, Vandy fouls the gaurd as he crosses midcourt with 3 seconds left.

The kid hits the first FT and then misses the second on purpose - it works to perfection and a WS player puts the ball back in immediately to tie the game with 0.7 seconds on the clock. Timeout Vandy.

Out of the TO, Vandy throws a touchdown pass the entire length of the floor for the winning score. Very exciting ending. How the Vandy player gets behind everyone is beyond me, but it was a great ending...

ESPN is about to do Top Plays and this ending will likely be featured. Check it out...

That was pretty freaking cool. The tie was #2 and the shot at the end was #1. Go Vandy.

i saw the replay with fran fraschilla calling it I think. lol he screamed yes! when vandi made the shot. i think that was somewhat of a trick play. the dude had to switch on d from the baseline pick to prevent it. pretty slick by vandi. reminded me of brady during march madness.

then again putting 3 or 4 in the paint with one or two pressing the ball prolly works with .7 left. lol

I've never seen a finish like that in basketball where the guy was so wide open at the opposite end of the floor. Nice defensive set WS. The Cap. One bowl was a good analogy for that play.

Dude, I'm still one of those people that says that there was no way Christian Laettner got that shot off in time against Kentucky in '92.

Hey, as I said on another thread...given LSU's basketball history (one postseason tournament title EVER - the 1980 SEC Tournament Championship), a championship trophy from the "pathetic" NIT would look pretty good right about now.

Didn't the men win the national title back in 1930something... before it was called the national title?
