Tennessee's W Basketball coach has dominated the sport for too damn long. Tenn has owned LSU W Bktball for too damn long.

The tide turned last Thursday night. LSU's win over the Vols is one of the biggest LSU wins in any sport that we've seen in a long time.

Does this win signal a "tectonic plate shift"?

Has the paradigm shifted in NCAA WBktball?

CAN POKEY CHATMAN BUILD A DYNASTY?

    LSU! LSU! LSU!

LSU has a great team now and had a great team last year. We'll really know how good a coach Pokey is when Augustus graduates. She really is a special player and she can bail the team out if the offense goes stale.

When you say women's basketball regarding the SEC, Tennessee is still the team that would come to mind as the top team around the country. Remember, LSU got beat by them last year in the Final Four.

Pat Summit is still the top coach and it will take a couple of years of LSU beating them most of the time for me to put Pokey ahead of Summit.

i think fowles has 3 years left to dominate even moreso than seimone--stats wise. of course we need to find another temeka to get her the ball.

maybe tack has a younger sister.

I respect Summitt's coaching ability but man does she have a permanent scowl or what?

She had the same scowl when UT beat LSU last year.

Pokey has a little ways to go Jean.

remember the likes of Mulkey-Robertson at Baylor, Conrad at Texas, Sharp at Texas Tech, and that dude at UCONN.

lots of tenured, respected coaches out there...Pokey can get them though.

Let's not forget this is Pokey's first (full) year as a head coach.

If you went to/watched the Tennessee game, you saw T. Johnson's sub come in for her in the 1st half. With no Tameka next year, LSU is in trouble. Johnson's sub (don't know her name) constantly picked up her dribble and got herself into trouble - and threw arrant passes too. 1 season doesn't make a dynasty but it's a great foundation!

In the Tennessee game, it may have been QUianna Chaney who came off the bench to spell Temeka...Chaney is not a point guard.

The backups at the point will probaly be Erica White and RaShonta LaBlanc. True, neither player has logged impressive stats as of yet but you have to figure that going against Temeka in practice everyday will reap longterm benefits. White is Johnson sized, 5'4" and LaBlanc is 5'9". I don't know if either have TJs vast array of skills: ball handling, passing while moving at top speed, ability to rebound and defend, not to mention score, but if they bring different strengths to the point, that will make the team much stronger. In fact with Hoston, Augustus, and Fowles returning, you won't need a lot of scoring from the point.

PG will be a very important slot next year for Pokey to fill no doubt. Erica White actually played pretty good vs UT I thought. She is one of the leading candidates among 4 highly recruited players and the best high school PG in the country may be at West Monroe and I believe the Tigahs will get here.

And here is an article on her that happened to be in today's advocate:

Pokey seems to be one helluva recruiter. Gunter gave her credit for getting Augustus here. She brought in Fowles and a couple of other HS AA last year. She just signed another AA out of Michigan, a 6'2" power forward, and will have another great class.

But, Pokey still has a long way to go. You gotta win championships to be on Summitt's level!
