Was/Is Mauck the leader on the field for your offense? We were trying to figure out if his loss would have leadership consequences or simply experience ones. My friends weren't sure if Clayton or Davis or someone on the O-Line filled that role . . . anyone have any idea on the team chemistry in that respect? Thanks in advance.
Class President? Wasn't Randall the Class President for Glen Oaks? I know it doesn't necessarily translate to the gridiron but it seems like a good trait. I think DD is one of the leaders of the offense.
Randall is well liked Marcus Randall is kind of like Rohan Davey was when he was the backup; all the players loved and respected him, even though he wasnt on the field. The only difference is that they dont resent Mauck like they did Josh Booty. I also think Bradie James is one of the most vocal leaders on the team and wont let anyone on the team get down by the loss of Mauck.
I can't help but notice the similarities between our situation now and a few years ago. We had a quarterback with high expectations that came to LSU after playing pro baseball a few years. His play was adequate, but not spectacular. But waiting in the wings was a backup QB with a big heart, if not a big reputation. He was a team favorite even as a backup QB. He was thrown in as the starter when the original starting QB was injured mid-season. His name was Rohan Davey.
I really think that Mauck had to win over his team with that win. It hurts to see him go down when it seems his team was rallying behind him I hope Randalll can do it
Marcus Remember Herb Tyler? He was a back up as well. No game experience and played very well. (19-3) as a starter. Had a good running game. (So does Marcus) Very good OL (so does Marcus) Marcus reminds me more of Herb than Matt. I say Marcus will play within his abilities, and this will be his statement game. Let's not forget Joseph Addai. He gets better with each game. Marcus and the offense will move the ball and the Bayou Bashers will be better than last Saturday. SC is a better team than UF and that calls for the Bayou Bashers "Defence" to go to the next level.
Herb Tyler was 19-3 as a starter?!? I would not have thought that at all! I thought he lost to Auburn twice, I would of thought he had more than 3 losses . . That being said . .he really took it to us in '98

Speaking of Herb... Herb Tyler is still my favorite LSU quarterback of all time. That option run around the right side against Florida in '97, where he almost lost his balance, caught himself, ran into the endzone, and jumped about five feet off the ground in celebration, is one of those LSU memories that ranks at or near the top and gives me goosebumps. He played the perfect Herb Tyler game that night. There were times where he would just get punished in the pocket, and he always got up and dusted himself off and went back to work...All business. (okay, except for when he got hurt against 'bama when Saun Alexander was a freshman and lit us up, but nobody would have gotten up from the hit he took...) The guy had class and heart, and I always felt like the Tigers had a fighting chance against anybody and everybody when he was under center. If Randall is half the quarterback, and half the person, that Herb Tyler was in his days at LSU, then I feel very good about him leading this team. GEAUX TIGERS!!
