I was a huge wrestling fan until the age of about 10. Both that Midsouth (?) group with Dr. Death, Kamala, Hacksaw Jim Dugan and the WWF with Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, etc.

I heard that Ric Flair was going to be on this past Monday night so tuned in for a few minutes. Mostly curious to see what decades of hard drugs did to Flair and also because my buddy met him at the Radisson in Baton Rouge in the 90s and had a funny story about him.

In the 20 minutes that I watched, it was so bad that I think I've lost respect for anyone that watches wrestling these days. Most criticism I've heard over the years is that it's "fake". I think the bigger criticism should be that it's white trash redneck story lines that are neither funny or interesting.

In one of the matches, there was a Hispanic guy that they mentioned a couple of times was the "US champion". After he won, the crowd was kind of booing him. Then, this white trash looking dude runs out of the tunnel and they proclaim him to be the "real US champion" and he has a stare down with the Hispanic guy. The crowd goes nuts for the white trash guy and continues to boo the Hispanic dude.

You could contact Vince McMahon and see if he would hire you to write story lines for the wrestler's feuds.

To be fair nearly all of the top stars are injured right now. Daniel Bryan is probably the best technical wrestler in a 25 years. He is out due to concussion issues. Seth Rollins was the World Champion until (legit) injury forced him to give up the title. Cesaro, who is another exceptional wrestler is out. Randy Orton... out. John Cena... filming a tv show.

Seriously, check out Daniel Bryn vs CM Punk matches on youtube. Some of the best matches of all time.

Yeah it's bad right now but all of the great ones are hurt or retired. I saw Dr Death at the Piggly Wiggly when I was kid, he and Hacksaw lived in my hometown. Mid south used to come to Rapides Parish all the time. Midnight Express, Rock N Roll express.

All the ideas or storylines have all been played out too many times though.
