http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/96911/secs-no-2-ranking-feels-much-worse?ex_cid=espnapi_public Seems everyone is just loving that the SEC stunk it up in the Bowl Season. Question is .... does the SEC stay down?? I can't answer this question, especially for LSU. With the offensive play that we had this past year, and if it continues, we LSU fans are in for a long drought. Don't know what that will do on the recruiting side of the ball. If all the talent starts going to the competing conferences, the SEC is likely to stay down for quite awhile. [Lord knows our coaching doesn't help us much]. OTOH ... the SEC loses so much talent to early departures. That's gotta hurt.
The SEC may be "down this year" on paper but I still would take them over almost any PAC 12 school. I firmly believe it doesn't help we beat the crap out of each other week in week out. Also it might be just me but I think there was a lot of underestimating going on by the SEC teams in the bowl games. The war chickens are prime examples.
Not too worried about it. Seems like it just worked out to be a down year in the SEC. We still got a wealth of talent and some of the most respected coaches in the nation. Urban Weiner is just a good coach and has Ohio St looking like a powerhouse again; you know, more like an SEC school than what the B1G has fielded in recent years.
Osu isn't losing much. Harbaugh at Michigan makes the big 10 interesting again. Sec may be down next year as well. Bamas road schedule is brutal and they will be the highest ranked sec team to start the season. Fsu with no jameis. Is it college football season yet.
Really, the B10 has upgraded coaches at OSU, Mich, PSU, and Wisky. MSUs coach is very respectable. They not only look to be an up and coming conf, but should be formidable for years to come with this group of coaches.
That's what I'm saying. I'm fine with flying under the radar cause, in the end, to be the best you have to beat the best. With the playoff we'll have a chance to prove "worth."
The SEC did not have a QB this year. Not even a game managing QB. If fact, the QBs were average to poor. Prescott may have been the best one but he faltered at the end. Talent on both sides of the ball in the SEC is still top notch. A team is just waiting for a QB to emerge.
