after the GA game I thought LSU had a great chance of winning out. I knew they were going to the SECCG. But did not think about Sugar until they announced the pairings. When they said LSU and Oklahoma. I knew LSU would win. Saban is undefeated in side.........

Phil Steele's computer program had us either in the national championship game or winning the whole thing before the season started. I remember it caught my eye when an article said the program had Ohio St. winning it the year before. I'm not a betting man but I may place a little wager on whoever that program spits out this year.

I was talking about winning the National Championship before we even took a single snap this past season. My family thought I was nuts but I felt with Mauck coming back we had a great chance. I knew we would have a strong defense, but I could not have predicted it would be AMAZING. I've got doodles in some of my notebooks from early in the fall semester predicting a LSU win over OU in the Sugar Bowl.

Well I don't see how anybody could have been serious about thinking LSU would win the NC before the season started with the question mark of Matt Mauck. I surely didn't give it any thought. The previous season had ended pretty miserably and forgettable in fact.

I kept up with the BCS very closely, so the time I thought we had the chance to get to the NC was when we got past Ole Miss and Michigan beat Ohio State. That was the key. Otherwise Ohio State would have been a lock to play OU for the NC. It's kinda funny that Michigan was responsible for LSU first getting to the NC and secondly having to share the NC (even tho we know USC is only the Rose Bowl champ) after they lost to USC.

I knew our SOS would get better and better with Ole Miss, Arkansas and a rematch with Georgia in the SEC CG.

I still remember watching Washington playing Washington State and losing my mind rooting for a fairly poor Washington team trying to upset Washington State. This was the same week we were playing Ole Miss, if I am not mistaken. I knew that Washington State losing and falling out the top 10 in the BCS would be crucial to LSU edging USC in the BCS standings. I never thought I would ever get into a game that otherwise I would never considerered watching. Washington had the ball 5 times starting in Washington State territory and got 0 points to show for it. Talk about an agonizing game to watch. But somehow they came back late in the game and pulled off the upset. At that point, I got really excited about LSU getting to the NC. And I knew if we could get there, we had a legitimate chance to win it as well. It was at that point that I got into the BCS formula, computer polls, etc. big time and started posting my info on it.

    Quite an amazing year.

After going to the AZ and watching the GA game on the tube, I KNEW that this was going to be a top 5 team at the end of the season.

I was back in BR for the AU & Tech games...

...when I left we were in 7th place in the polls...

...I told my brother - "We're gonna be in the Sugar Bowl" -

...and he said - "No Freakin' Way"...

... he said - "There's too many teams ahead of us"...

...I said - "They'll all go down and we're gonna be there"...

DAMN IT SURE FEELS GOOD TO BE RIGHT!!!!!!!!

    ROFFLMAO

We'll say ... you predicted on this forum that Zero U would score "half a hundred" on LSU ... 47 points if my pornographic memory serves me correctly.

You got out your Brasso and spitoon and polished NC Trophy #8 in advance for the Boomers while we laughed and threw peanuts at you.

The seeds that eventually blossomed into a forest-worth of hatred for USC began with that Florida loss.

Every week following Florida---and becoming more intense with each week's passage---LSU fans felt the euphoria of winning and moving up the polls and the dawning realization, low-level unease, then abject terror over the prospect that LSU could fall just short of playing for it's first National Title in generations (in New Orleans, at that) for reasons it could not control.

I held out faint hope that Oregon St. could trip up SC, only to progress to absolute certitude that Michigan would "roll" the Trojans and give LSU a shot at a uncontested title (w/o the "People's Champion" bull).

My heart dropped when that jake, lame-ass Braylon Edwards dropped a sure touchdown in the first quarter of the Rose Bowl, then I drowned my sorrows when I realized that Chris Perry couldn't block on pass plays if his entire family's life depended on it (he's gonna be an NFL bust. Bank on it.)

Anyways...I was terrified LSU wouldn't make it because of the pollsters until Syracuse knocked off Notre Dame that first weekend of December (I knew LSU and Boise St. would win). Sure, I loved seeing the guys go 13-1 and all...but I NEVER want to live through that kind of stress again!!!

    That SUCKED!

I remember in August, I was talking to one of my friends in class. I told him that I was going to New Orleans and I'm gonna see LSU win the national championship. Everyone was like yea right and no way. After the Arizona game, even though Arizona sucks, you could tell that the team was gonna be a great one. Geaux Tigers!
