    My guess is coach was trying to get the pitcher to actually commit suicide on the mound. Overbearing parental issues made the coach want it bad enough.

    Seriously, at what point does the coach start thinking that maybe his pitcher isn't getting the job done? After 3 runs in the first? 4? 16? 20?
