Our defense played lights freakin out in the 1st half. Charles Scott came through like the leader we were waiting to emerge. Riley sealed the deal. I was feeling pretty down (and, frankly, I'm a tad worried that all that vomiting heralds the swine flu for us), but that last few minutes was one for the ages.
Wait...what? I don't like the 4th down play in the redzone. Going for it there really tells the other team that we are scared and want points...
Trindon Holliday for the kick returns that set LSU up deserves some credit. - The defense stepping up deserves some credit. - Chavis. - CLM - BUT....IMHO, the Oline and subsequently the running game were big today...comparitively speaking. Time of possession in the first half was embarassingly in our favor...due in large part to the fact that we ran the ball pretty well finally. We had 100 yd rusher (95). We had 5 times the rushing yds as last week. - I have to give it to the OL and running game for that...since that has been the biggest letdown to me...and today was improvement. Still not where it can be, but definite improvement.
I won't argue with you about that decision because I agree with you. So did Les if you heard his comments to Tracy Wolfson. I think they should have kicked, but overall I feel that the coaching staff made better game management decisions, that one being an exception. I certainly don't think the coaches were "scared" because they absolutely manhandled the Dawgs in the first half up to that point. Completely on both sides of the ball. Just a poor decision. That's certainly different from coaching "scared" and that is the first time I think I have ever heard old "Lesticles" referred to that way. You're just plain wrong about that part.
Coach Chavis, who had a master plan to stop this Georgia offense. It was exactly what we needed to win this game. Without it, my 33-20 prediction would have come true.
JJ was solid when the game was on the line, so he gets my gameball on offense. Agree with Petersen on defense, but late in the game it was multiple defenders.
i don't feel any more confident in our offensive coaching staff after this game. to be honest, i feel a little more worried. it is taking ENTIRELY too long to get the play relayed into the game. subsequently, jefferson gets confused when the play breaks down and makes boneheaded plays. i didn't agree with going for it on fourth (and miles also admitted that wasn't the right call.) you need the points in that instance. defense was outstanding for the most part and played with absolute HEART today. lack of turnovers was really surprising to me. but i think that has to do with the Tigers being more concerned with stopping the play rather than trying to make a play with an interception. UGA has a great offense. aj green is GOING to get his touches. i thought we did a great job defending him. i think we made one hell of an improvement this week. we saw what the team is capable of. and this team can be VERY good.
