With this cool front figured maybe the white trout would have started gettin in the fall spots. Hit one this morning and they were home. Bout 90 minutes threw 65 on ice and headed in out of the pumpin north wind.
I leave the ice in the bags or the froze bottles while fishing and throw the fish on top.....then when I am done I can just pull the bags/bottles out for a pic then dump the ice on em and get em stirred up in it good so they are thoroughly iced throughout. Works better than dumping the ice then throwing the fish on top....lot easier to stir the ice into the fish vs the fish into the ice and you dont have it all clumped together in chunks.
For white trout you need to keep them on ice until you clean them or they get mushy. If I have a limit of specs I just pull them all out of the ice chest and make short work of the fileting with an electric knife. For whites I pull them out one at a time and clean
i have heard many people talk about em getting mushy, hard to clean etc but I have never seen any of that I guess bc ive been doin so long and do it so often that its done right every time so never have those issues.
