If you look at military voting records, I think you'd come to conclusion of what would happen if the govt went rogue. If the president ordered the military to attack the American populace. I believe 3/4 would defend them.
Both of you are correct and make Intelligent points. Overthrows and coups are not as much about military power as they are about philosophy and politics. As long as we keep our anti dictator sentiment here, our army would never attack us, never follow orders from a despot leader. We don't need guns to defend ourselves from our government, we need to work on the minds of those that allow the power of the government to grow, and then we will be fine.
