Re: 3 days till bama We've got two different viewpoints on this, and that's not a big deal to me. It's just looking at things from different aspects. Before anyone says I don't understand the devastation brought about by storms like what you've dealt with understand I live in Charleston, have had family here for years, and while Hugo wasn't as devastating to Charleston as was New Orleans dealt with, it was none-the-less a trying time for this city. The storms this year undoubtably had an effect on the team. No doubt. But, on the same end kids of this age find football to be fun and in this case a respite from the devastation they were seeing on a daily basis in and around the campus. At least, that's my assumption. Talking about which team has the most heart really is a useless subject...simply because we are talking about resolve in two seperate areas of life. I don't discount the possibility I don't understand the mentality of the LSU team. I do look at it like this. LSU locker room: We've just dealt with a hurricane that has displaced our families and friends...let's go show them what our football team is all about. Bama locker room: We are coming off of sanctions...we signed with Alabama because we've wanted to play for this team all of our life. We haven't been and still aren't considered a contender...and the goal we've had since we've been here is right before our eyes. Let's go show them what we are all about. Do you see what I mean? Both situations come from the heart, the gut. But, the two contexts are polar opposites. I've made my prognostications here. You've seen it, I'm sure. It was an analysis based on the emperical evidence looking over this season and it favors LSU. There is one thing that can't be prognosticated about...can't be be analyzed...the intangibles. Those intangibles very well could be the deciding factor of this game...but to point to them as emperical evidence is foolish and that's why I haven't. One can make a hypothesis about an intangible...but, hypotheticals are just that, guesses.
I know everything that has been said about 'Bama's struggling offense, etc. But to be honest, their defense can make our "inconsistant-at-times-offense" look very mediocre. And that worries me. Throw in the fact that it IS Alabama--a team that leads the all-time meetings between both schools by like 20 games! I've seen MANY dismanteling defeats at the hands of the Tide in my lifetime to say that this game is ours to lose like some of the analysts are alluding to. LSU! needs to get on the scoreboard first, IMO, if I'm to keep from going into cardiac arrest before halftime.
That's simply not true. Every media outlet I heard pick LSU to win the west, but they also said Bama was very capable of doing it too. Did you watch the Tenn. game? Did you see the cramps our guys had? Our guys did have fatigue from the hurricane, But I am not going to say we lost the game because of that because I do not believe in excuses. Both teams have heart, both teams have formed bonds because of different and unfortunate circumstances. Which team has had it worse is a stupid argument. Both teams will be ready to play and the BEST team will win!
My argument was not a question of which team had it worse, it was acknowledgement that both sides suffered tremendous hardships and have presevered. Thus I find that both teams have shown tremendous heart in dire circumstances and both should be duly noted. It is not to be taken as a slight against Bama, but I feel that this LSU team has been through what it takes to be a champion. Intangibles will play a major role in the game. That assessment is something I can agree with, but it does seem self-evident because has there been a big game in recent years or even farther back where intangibles like heart, desire, and leadership did not play a role? But in a way intangibles can be measured. This LSU team in the last two years has had numerous comeback victories, 3 this year alone(Arizona State, Florida, Auburn). That in some way is a measure of heart and desire. To the poster who stated that LSU didn't lose the Tenneesee game due to fatigue during the hurricanes, it has been noted and documented that the LSU team lost an average of seven pounds in the weeks following the hurricane. I believe this had an adverse effect on our teams ability to perform and our playcalling. It does not excuse the loss by any measure of the imagination, but it does offer insight into what these players went through. I would fin the source where I read this, but I have a test coming up and I got to cram. I believe I read it on collegefootballnews.com
Semantics, I suppose? I wouldn't call that an intangible. I would categorize that as maturity. Maturity can be easy called experience which is tangible, right? As example (and I don't mean this to be a redux of the call two years ago) but that interception (which many feel was interference) on the pass to Keith Brown took the wind out of Bama sails. That team, was very young and hadn't been in situations like that before. This year, if the same situation were to occur, I feel they'd be able to bounce back from it. Again, all semantics. Gosh, I wish tomorrow would hurry up and get here!!!!
Man you are in for a big let down. You need to just relax and enjoy your undefeated season while you can. It may not last much longer :geauxtige
Saw this ... LSU Bleaux! LOL Had me rolling. Man I cannot wait for the game... win or lose, it's gonna be fun!
Yes it even made me laugh:hihi: Did you see it on cold pizza this morning? From the looks of things Bama is going to be rockin!
