Our objective was to use so much clock (and make them use a timeout) that they wouldn’t have enough time left to score twice- it worked, sorta.
If you're going to try to hit a big play, 2nd and short is the ideal time to do it, so that you still have a manageable down and distance on 3rd if you don't hit it.
