There are plenty of people outside of both programs who saw the situation for what it was. And in case you didn't notice, I conceded the 2003 NC and SC still has a 6-2 NC advantage. And FWIW, it's not disputed in my mind. I let it go in 2004 since there is no point in further discussion. I simply reminded PurpleTiger that there is no reason for a Trojan to want a 2003 NC ring presented to Tiger players and staff from the school.
Again all I can do is reference USC's recent record vs the SEC. We're 4-0 including a shutout vs Auburn in their house in the 2003 year. Nobody expected us to win that game with a fresh QB by the name of Matt Leinart. Time to move on and see what this year brings.
You would be amazed at the kind of attention a ring like that will get you. I wore a Peach Bowl ring during Mardi Gras this year. I had so many people asking me about it. It was crazy.
uscvball, enjoy your post. If you have time to read this it might clear it up a little. Cant argue with many of these stats. Go to the 3rd topic, LSU over USC Argument. http://lsuoverusc.blogspot.com/
If you think a blog by an LSU fan will help clear anything up for me, that's not the case, particularly a blog with a decidedly anti USC slant. Again for the sake of argument in this thread I conceded 2003. Do you honestly expect any USC fan to be happy about how things went down? From my recollection there was plenty of outrage on the part of SC fans when this happened. However, you have to act like you've been there before and what good does whining accomplish? The facts still bear out that USC has a rich football history including 6 NC's not including 2003 so there is little point in continuing the discussion over just one year. I feel more slighted by the split title with Alabama in 1978. We were 12-1, they were 11-1 and we beat them head to head yet both were declared NC. It happens, I've moved on. I never intended my post(s) to be a flame, just a response. I apologize for resurrecting old ghosts.
I remember when Jeff Boss was ill and then passed away. That's when I realized that I knew him. He was my football coach when I was a freshman and sophmore at Morgan City HS in 76/77. I know this is not a JB thread, but hell, I just wanted to say that I knew the guy and had never forgotten him. He was a passionate guy. Great guy. OK, go back to what you were doing. Bob
No need to apologize. They have ppl on here that will bring up anything to fuss over. LSU fans, as you know, are pretty damn passionate and the fact that LSU finally earned a :crystal: and the media still found away to take any credit away from LSU made a few fans (including myself) rather upset. Nothing against USC, they have a program any fan should be proud of, but well... you know.
Great post here Bob, and I don't care if it is off-topic. I've heard nothing but good things about JB, and it's always good to bring him up. I don't know who's ring this is, but I sure would like to have it! :thumb: Maybe one of these days after I'm loaded with cash, I can buy a 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, or 2011 ring, whichever I'd prefer. :geauxtige
We'll put a mass order in for the '07 ones in a year's time. We'll even get one for ya, uscvball!
