I was giving an AT BEST comparison. I'm not saying that TCU is definitely better, thus the use of the word may. I agree that this is a really good team to get as our opener.

No, its just plain wrong. OSU beat the hell out of ND in the Fiesta Bowl in 2000 to finish an 11-1 year, and Dennis Erickson, their former coach, was very high on many LSU fans' list of coaches after the Dinardo firing. They were jinxed with being on the cover of SI's College Football Preview magazine in '01, but they were 8-5 the last two years. You can say what you want about the strength of the Pac-10 relative to (Saban term) the other conferences, but there is absolutely no comparison between OSU and any mid-level C-USA team like Memphis, TCU or Houston. Not even close.

The PAC 10 did pretty good in the bowls, something like 5-1

Oregon State has had maybe five years of decent college football in its history, and half of their good teams have come within the past 10 years. Just to give you an idea of how bad OSU is historically, in the previous three decades OSU had the 70th worst winning percentage. Basically, OSU is the Mississippi State of the Pac 10. TCU and Memphis would be good games.

Bottom line, I pick any Pac 10 team to beat any team in Conf USA if they both have the same record. I'd take USC over TCU, I'd take Oregon State to beat Houston. I'd take Arizona over Army.

But then again, I'd take any SEC team over any Pac-10 team if the records are equal.

Read: No defense in the PAC-10.

But then, most of us already knew that.

History is just that, history. If you spend too much time thinking "back then", right now's gonna hit you in the mouth.

as far as this being a done deal, the only thing holding it back is the fact that we have to find Temple a replacement game...if we get that done, then the game is on.

My bad about the Arkansas/Florida deal...although, given the balance of the season, I am not sure either is a good loss.

I want to make one thing clear....while some of you may not respect the PAC10, the feeling is not mutual. Every one up here knows that the SEC, top to bottom, is the premier league. In addition, everyone up here knows that the game day environment is completely nuts. I want to get down and check that out! I have all kinds of buddies who have been to games at Bama, Floriday, Baton Rouge, Tenn...etc, and they just shake their heads when describing it...

I hope it happens...we're already talking about renting a couple of houses in New Orleans for the week...we've got some leads..

Oregon State would be a terrific replacement for Va. Tech (the punks.) To compare playing a mid-to-upper level PAC 10 team with CUSA is ridiculous. Our SOS will be nothing to laugh at (again) with OSU on our schedule!

Geaux Tigers--and let's not get the big head and start talking smack about tradition. We just won our first NC in 45 years.

jr don't worry about what lsu said. Lsu that was a dumb comment. not trying to flame you but who cares what happened in the past. since i think 98 osu has been a pretty good team. they prolly had the best rb( besides jv of course) in the country this past year. they would be a great team to schedule.
