once again, as I said, mock drafts at this point mean nothing. you can def pencil in bogut, paul and s williams at the top but after that, a lot will change before draft time. the pre draft camps can really increase a players stock and, IF bass declares, I think he will be he will impress at the camps and fall in the top 10. if everyone believed these 'experts' all the time, you'd have a team full of darko milici's. let's just wait and see, these draft gurus need something to write year round. however, I agree that at this point, it may be a risk for bass since 2nd rnd means no guaranteed money. this year, he can't test the waters like he did last year.
I have used nbadraft.net's mocks to follow the NBA draft for 4 years now, and NEVER has someone projected that low jumped more than 6-10 spots in the camps! it just don't happen. The demand for a 6-8 Power Forward isn't really big! Now if he was 6-10, then we had the 1st pick in the draft
Can you give an example of a player who rose from the 2nd round to a top 10 pick in the pre draft camps? I can't remember that happending. It seems as if you are basing your stance completely on your opinion of how good Bass is. My opinion is that Bass is a very good college player who will be an undersized 4 in the NBA. He'll get drafted somewhere around 25-30 whenever he does come out (unless the NBA institutes a rule disallowing highschoolers). IMO, there is no chance that he'll be a top 10. He's simply not that good.
this mock draft is pretty good because it includes rookie salaries of that #pick last year. bass nowhere to be found. look at the difference between bottom 1st round and lottery. 700k vs 1.5mil. not as much of a difference as i thought, but it seems like bass could go mid 2nd this year. didnt find last years 2nd rd pick salaries, but there's got to be a big drop off. he had better "be like mike" in those workouts if he's planning on going to the nba this year. http://www.hoopshype.com/draft.htm
Bass is not even listed in the top 10 PFs in this recent espn piece. If Bass is as smart as his GPA indicates, he will be a tiger next year. Now if we only had a coach.... and a couple of guards that can handle pressure D... we would be the shiznit in 05-06. I still hold out hope for tac, not so much for brady. http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&id=2021119
When was the last time LSU went undefeated at home in conference play? Brady happened to earn that title this year. Brandon Bass skill is very similar to D. Scales when he left LSU but the money pool in NBA is a lot more tempting now.
i think 1981 was the last time. it is common these days to judge coaches on their success in the ncaa tournament. yes - brady had a very good sec season. a very good regular season. but what sets up expectations, puts butts in the seats and garners national respect is ncaa tourny success. that is simply a product of the excitement that tournament creates. the ncaa tournament has relegated the regular basketball season to much less importance than it used to have. so if brady is an effective no-show in the ncaa (a la the last 4 years), he is not successful as a college basketball coach. our excectations are far too low in basketball. over the last 4 years, brady has produced the equivalent of an indy bowl appearance (2002), a no bowl appearance (2003), a no bowl appearance (2004) and a peach bowl appearance (in which we were blown out by an inferior opponent). Would we say we had a successful football program if that happened? What if Miles produces those type of results? He'd be ****-canned before he ever had the change to lead us to slaughter against that Peach bowl opponent. And if not, he'd be fired or resign the day after.
Are you kidding me? Sue never put butts in the seats in her in entire career at LSU. What is happening this season? Pokey may be the cutest coach BUT she crediting her own coach for her current prominent role in the tourney. Pokey is a classy lady. Dale Brown never have much followers until he challenged KU for SEC supremacy. When did D. Brown start coaching at LSU?
Bass' stock would have risen had he had a defining tourney moment ALA Stromile's Mihm block.... ...IMO that was one of the main reasons Stro went #2.... ...Bass didn't even make the radar screen in the tourney... I'd be surprised if he didn't come back...
