I really have a sickness ...I have become addicted to following HS football recruiting over the last 3 years. It's a shame when I spend this much time wondering about the futures of 17-18 year old kids. Anyway, I did a lot of research that some of you who also follow recruiting may find interesting. Using the Rivals database for last year's top 5 recruiting classes (USC, LSU, Florida St., Miami & Michigan) & Oklahoma, I checked out how many Top 100 recruits each team has for 2005. Here is what I found: LSU 22 Top 100, 2 verbals USC 23 Top 100, 0 verbals, 4 common w/ LSU OU 23 Top 100, 0 Verbals, 9 common w/ LSU FSU 30 Top 100, 0 Verbals, 7 common w/ LSU Mich 33 Top 100, 3 verbals, 4 common w/ LSU Miami 32 Top 100, 0 verbals, 9 common w/ LSU -All 6 teams were in the BCS last year and figure to stay there for the years to come w/ this kind of recruiting. -FSU, Mich, & Miami have a larger # of Top 100 recruits. I believe this is because they have been on top of the college football scene longer in the most recent past than LSU, USC & Okla. -Our biggest recruiting battles will be w/ Miami and Okla (9 common recruits w/ each of them). -84 of the Top 100 2005 recruits are being recruited by at least one of these 6 schools. -the # of Top 100 recruits for each school include recruits who may have already committed to another school. I did this because nothing is final until signing day. -Chris Collins must be a stud. He has committed to Texas but was also recruited by LSU, USC, Oklahoma & Michigan. -Fred Rouse is another stud being chased by LSU, USC, FSU, Michigan & Miami -all of this research was done w/o having access to the Top 100 list itself. I had to check the database of each team and look at each player to see if they were considered a Top 100 recruit or not. good thing for cable modems! :geaux: :geaux:  :geaux: :geaux:  :geaux: :geaux:  :geaux: :geaux:
There's no sickness in your addiction ... mine is 20+ years and a true enjoyment ... now that the payoff after 20 years is a done deal ... it's become even more fun. No resting on our laurels ... there's lotsa work to be done in Texas ... and Florida
Great research 95, it does appear when looking at OU, USC and LSU that the bad years before getting there current coach has had a somewhat lingering effect but it could also be other factors. Mich, FSU and UM haven't had losing seasons in a while though so I'd say your observations are right on. Mich is the one that surprises me the most with 33 kids being interested in them but I am wondering if that is because they get an unusally high number of linemen interested in them? Any data on that?
data, yeah we got data... LSU: QB 1, RB 3 (Robinson verbal), WR 5, TE 1, OT 2, DE 3, DT 3, LB 1 (verbal to Texas), S 1 (Keys verbal), ATH 2, Total 22 USC: RB 4, WR 4, OT 3, OG 1, DE 3, DT 2, LB 3, CB 3, Total 23 Okla: RB 1, WR 3, TE 1, OT 3, DE 2, DT 3, LB 4, CB 2, ATH 4, Total 23 FSU: QB 1, RB 4, WR 4, OT 4, OG 1, DE 6, DT 3, LB 4, CB 1, S 1, ATH 1, Total 30 Mich: QB 2, RB 3, WR 4, OT 9, DE 2, DT 3, LB 4, CB 4, S 1, ATH 1, Total 33 Miami: QB 3, RB 1, WR 5, TE 1, OT 6, DE 6, DT 2, LB 5, CB 1, S 2, Total 32 right on w/ Mich, 9 Top 100 OT's interested in them!
No OT is OT, Offensive Tackle. According to Rivals database, Michigan has 9 offensive tackle recruits who are in the Top 100 recruits in the nation. Michingan OL recruits

Dude, you are a plethera of information. You should start your own recruiting service. Michigan will recruit well due to tradition. Out of all the teams listed, Michigan has the longest winning tradition. I don't count USC, because they have only recently risen to one of the top teams. Michigan recruites well all over the country. They have stolen some LA gems in the past. 100.000+ stadium, cool uni's (in my opinion)(old school helmets and black cleats, heisman trophies, Shembechler. Don't get me wrong, I don't LOVE Michigan, but I probably like them the best in the Big 10.
They have always done well nationally, including Louisiana. It's really kind of surprising but they get a lot of Sunbelt kids to go up in the cold for school. Of course it isn't only their tradition but also the great people they have working in that program with many of the same people working there for years and years.
