We lose: Lane Mestepey (thanks for all of your hard work, you epitomize what it means to be a Tiger) Jason Determan Blake Gill Derek Hebert Brandon Nall Dustin Weaver Ryan Patterson Clay Harris Jordan Faircloth Rhett Buteau Nick Stavinoha This reads like a who's who of LSU starters and relief pitchers. I absolutely have no idea what next year's team will look like or even if we'll make it to the SEC tournament. Lots of improvement must occur across the board. Returning: Chris Jackson Michael Hollander Jordan Mayer Bruce Sprowl Will Harris Greg Smith? (might get drafted per Jimmy Ott) Quinn Stewart
The word of the day is 'potential'. Greg Smith is not going to be on the team next year. It sucks, but he is going to be a high draft pick. Here is how I'd fill out my lineup card next year: 1. Chris Jackson 3B 2. Bruce Sprowl CF 3. Jordan Mayer DH 4. Matt Liuzza C 5. Will Harris 1B 6. Quinn Stewart LF 7. JP Pardon 2B 8. Michael Hollander SS 9. Steven Broschofsky RF That cleanup spot is the biggest question. Can Will Harris step it up and fill in there or are we forced to stick Liuzza there and hope for the best? Mayer is the stud next year. There is no question about that. A lot of this depends on if Bogany is on campus next year. Pardon and Broschofsky bring a lot of potential, but can they be consistent is the question. Don't forget about Bryan Harris either. Pitching is a little iffy: Friday: LHP Clay Dirks Saturday: RHP Eric English Sunday: RHP Chris Cahill/RHP Michael Bonura The bullpen is going to be a problem. Bonura or Cahill will be the first long relief guy out of the pen probably. Ramirez should get Determann's role next year. After that it is pretty much anyone's guess. A lot has to do if with if any of these big time pitching prospects that we signed are in LSU uniforms next year. It should be interesting, to say the least.
JVincent I agree with most of your post. I think that Brandon Nall is going to get another year back last I heard. What about that stud pitcher we are giving almost a full scholly too? Isn't he expected to factor in the starting rotation? I think Bryan Harris is going to factor into the starting rotation on the infield at 2B.
Why would you say that? I don't see him getting drafted in the first 15 rounds at this point. His stuff just isn't that dominating. We could still absorb a loss like Dirks though, I forgot about Daniel Forrer, who could be in the weekend rotation. I'm not sure which pitcher you are talking about LSUHotdog, Wall and Jones are studs, but are going to be drafted high. Hellickson could get drafted low enough to come to LSU though. I tend to agree about Harris, but Pardon is going to be too talented to leave out of the lineup I think.
Also out of the 13 we just signed here are the ones that will get drafted tomorrow: Brandon Snyder (likely 1st) Josh Wall (2nd maybe 1st) Beau Jones (around 3rd) Andrew York (around 3rd) Jeremy Hellickson (around 3rd) Jarred Bogany (top 5 rounds) Could possibly not sign: Jason Ogata Phil Lawhorn
