Re: RB Bryce Brown Bump that. If he's serious, and obviously we're serious, and we have the spot, I say we definitely take him. He may never pan out but that's the chance with any recruit. As far as his alleged propensity to be a me-first type player, I trust CLM to be able to handle that. We already have an example of how he will handle those type of players...Dominique Byrd. He should've had a breakout year and inserted himself into the first round, but he pouted and it hurt him. Even if he lights it up at the combine and at pro-day, NFL teams will be leery of his attitude. What I like about Brown besides his talent, is that he's a smart kid. If you don't have to trouble yourself with academics when dealing with this kid, that's just one less headache. You can concentrate on correcting the things that concern you without concern for his academic eligibility. And this kid can flat-out play. And judging by his pass catching ability at the Army game, he can contribute even when we're in Wild Tiger formations... And keep in mind, even the highest character kid can succumb to the wiles of college. When you're an 18 year old superstar recruit, and you have 22 year olds looking like the chicks we often see in pjnchamps and tirk's avatars begging to show you their umm....fellatial and carnal talents, the wrong mindset could make the kid fall into the deepend too fast. Point being, I realize we have to play the percentages for the sake of the program, but we should also consider we're developing young men first, then football players. What's wrong with taking a chance on a kid who doesn't quite fit inside the neat little box we tend to have for recruits. Hell we took Loston and don't know if he'll even qualify! I just think we'd be fools for passing up the #1 overall recruit by a couple of recruiting services. The kid can play, and the opportunity will be there for him. Ford and Brown anyone?
Re: RB Bryce Brown The best way to handle it, is to not bring drama into your locker room. Miles/Randle is enough for one season. My vote would be no, but it won't matter because LSU is not even on this kid's ballot.
Re: RB Bryce Brown Good Post NUPE....I say we take him also I think scott is just a hammer, williams i have never been sold on, murphy i like but the coaches dont seem too, ridley who freakin knows what we will get from him..Besides who should'nt have a me attitude, when it comes to choosing which college he will attend for at least the next three years. I dont take a job without looking at it thouroughly...this decision could make or break this kid he has possible millions on the line. so guys stop making comments with your heart and give the guy a break who knows he may turn out to be a good kid....I also remember were he was saying that miami would be a test of his faith because of his religous beliefs. to me that does not sound like a hell raiser just someone tyrying to find the best situation....
Re: RB Bryce Brown I can't believe anyone would say to not go after the kid. Why? Because he's got some hanger on that started a website for him, which by they way is perfectly legal. HE IS THE #1 PROSPECT IN THE COUNTRY. The problem arises when the coach doesn't have control of his players egos and entourages. I know this will piss of Vball but take Pete Carroll for example. Bush's agent was walking around the sidelines and is a friend of the program. Miles can get him on campus and get him away from this guy. It's really a non issue. We would be crazy not to pursue him as hard as we can. What I do agree with is that he's not really interested in being here.
Re: RB Bryce Brown I for one want him, we missed out on Dexter Pratt, and Christine Micheal. I'll take Bryce Brown any day. And I would'nt turn down his brother, if he wanted to transfer.
Re: Bryce Brown?? this was my favorite comment... "When I was a freshman at UT Carl Pickens drove a gold Porshe 944, break the bank for this kid."
